  • Patent number: 7958286
Abstract: Programmable on-chip identification circuitry and associated method are disclosed that provide integrated circuits with the ability to select and report from multiple different vendor and system identification configurations. The integrated circuit device includes programmable circuitry that utilizes vendor identification, system identification, configuration or other device information provided or selected at least in part based upon selection information from a source external to the integrated circuit. The selection information may be provided through one or more externally generated digital and/or analog control signals that are then processed within the integrated circuit device to select, access and utilize desired identification information stored in an on-chip database.

  • Patent number: 7664167
Abstract: An apparatus for managing modem sample rates within a direct access arrangement (DAA) circuit is disclosed. The DAA circuit includes a serial audio interface for providing communications between the DAA circuit and a host computer system. The serial audio interface is capable of operating under multiple serial communication interface standards, such as the AC '97 standard and the HD Audio standard. The DAA circuit also includes means for configuring the serial audio interface to transmit and receive modem samples at an audio sample rate higher than a modem sample rate of modem samples and at a predetermined bit size that is wider than a bit size of the modem samples, such that one bit of each of the modem samples is utilized to indicate the validity of each associated modem samples.

  • Patent number: 7649929
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing modem command and status latency within a direct access arrangement (DAA) circuit is disclosed. The DAA circuit includes a serial audio interface for providing communications between the DAA circuit and the host computer system. The serial audio interface can operate under multiple serial communication interface standards, such as the AC '97 standard and the HD Audio standard. The DAA circuit also includes means for configuring the serial audio interface to transmit and receive modem samples at an audio sample rate higher than a modem sample rate of the modem samples and at a predetermined bit size that is wider than a bit size of the modem samples. The additional bits other than the modem samples are utilized to indicate command and status information associated with the DAA circuit or a telephone line such that modem command and status latency on the serial audio interface within the DAA circuit can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6891935
Abstract: A technique is provided for an electrical device to automatically detect one of a plurality of interface standards to operate in accordance with. More particularly, a direct access arrangement (DAA) for communicating with telephone lines is provided for utilization with modem communications over a phone line. The DAA may be configured to automatically detect and operate in accordance with a plurality of interface standards for communications to a host system. For example, the DAA may detect that communications are to be provided in accordance with the AC-97 interface standard or the Azalia interface standard. In one embodiment, a clock signal may be monitored to determine the proper interface mode. In another embodiment, the automatic detection of the proper interface mode may be accomplished by monitoring the data presented to the DAA through the interface standard.

  • Patent number: 6748515
Abstract: An integrated circuit device and associated method are disclosed utilizing on-chip programmable circuitry that receives and stores vendor identification information, in particular, for devices meeting operational requirements of the Audio CODEC '97 Component Specification. The programmable circuitry allows for vendor ID information for multiple device configurations and/or multiple vendor supplied devices to be accurately reported to external devices. In particular, direct-access-arrangement (DAA) circuitry is disclosed having such on-chip programmable circuitry that may be loaded with vendor identification information at least in part from an external source. The external source may in turn be programmable circuitry, such as a EEPROM.

  • Patent number: 6256977
Abstract: A start circuit controlled by an electronic control unit for providing power from one or both of a battery and TRU in parallel to a starter motor coupled to a gas turbine engine. The circuit includes contactors between the TRU and battery and a junction where the current from the TRU and battery combine. The circuit further includes two additional contactors in series between the junction and the starter motor. Voltage sensors and contactor position sensors are employed for diagnostics. A novel method of starting the engine using the start circuit contemplated by the present invention is also descibed. In this method, the start is initiated with power only from the battery. After a period of time power from the TRU is added. This method reduces the amplitude of the start motor inrush current, which has a beneficial reliability effect on the components of the start circuit.
