  • Patent number: 11598300
Abstract: Operating an engine includes injecting a first charge of liquid fuel using a first set of nozzle outlets in a fuel injector, and injecting a second charge of liquid fuel using a second set of nozzle outlets in a fuel injector. The first charge is autoignited in a first engine cycle, and the second charge is autoignited in a second engine cycle, and may be used to pilot ignite a charge of gaseous fuel. Operating the engine further includes limiting errors in targeting of the second charge of liquid fuel caused by transitioning the engine from a first combination to a second combination of speed, load, and boost, by varying an injection pressure of the liquid fuel from the first engine cycle to the second engine cycle.

  • Patent number: 10767610
Abstract: A liquid fuel injector for a fuel system in an internal combustion engine includes two injection control valves for controlling two outlet checks. A common nozzle supply cavity is fluidly connected to an inlet passage and supplies each of the two sets of nozzle outlets opened and closed by the outlet checks. A first nozzle outlet set forms a narrower spray angle and has a first combination of outlet number and outlet size, and a second nozzle outlet set forms a wider spray angle and has a second combination of outlet number and outlet size. The first nozzle outlet set has a greater steady flow than the second nozzle outlet set.

  • Patent number: 10378495
Abstract: A fuel system includes a fuel injector having a fuel passage and a purging fluid passage formed therein. A nozzle tip inner surface defines a sac forming a blind end of the fuel passage in the fuel injector. A coaxial concentric check assembly includes a purging check movable to admit a purging fluid such as pressurized air into the fuel passage to purge the sac of fuel. Reduced injector dribble is observed from the purging of fuel.

  • Patent number: 9976527
Abstract: A fuel injector assembly for an engine system includes a fuel pressurization mechanism, a fuel injector, and a flow-directing sleeve positioned about the fuel injector and including sealing surfaces for sealing with a cylinder head and with an injector body. Slots are formed at least in part in the sealing surfaces to direct fuel from the cylinder head into an incoming cooling passage extending to the fuel pressurization mechanism, and from an outgoing cooling fuel passage into the cylinder head.

  • Publication number: 20170045022
Abstract: A fuel pump system configured to control a pressure pulse within a fuel system. The fuel pump system includes a conduit and a pump fluidly coupled to the conduit. The conduit has a conduit volume and is configured to contain fuel within. The pump includes a first pump stage in which the pump defines a maximum pump displacement and a second pump stage in which the pump defines a minimum pump displacement. The pump is configured to provide an output mass of fuel to the conduit when the pump transitions from the first pump stage to the second pump stage, causing pressure of the fuel within the conduit to pulse. The maximum pump displacement is set to a value defined by a ratio of the output mass of fuel per the conduit volume needed to maintain the pressure pulse in the conduit within a predetermined pressure pulse range.

  • Publication number: 20160232524
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing payment network transactions to a group account associated with a group are disclosed. One example system includes a memory including a data structure. The data structure includes transaction data representing multiple payment network transactions to the group account. Each of the multiple transactions is identified, in the transaction data, to one of multiple members of the group. The system includes a processor coupled to the memory and configured to cause a member interface to be displayed at a computing device associated with a first member of the group. The member interface includes a first indicator associated with the first member and representative of transactions identified to the first member, and the member interface includes a second indicator associated with a second member of the group and representative of one or more transactions identified to the second member.

  • Publication number: 20150324767
Abstract: A method for processing a transaction relating to a purchase and refunding a tax paid on the purchase. The method comprises receiving, over a network from a merchant apparatus, payment transaction data relating to a payment transaction associated with an electronic payment card; analyzing the payment transaction data to determine whether the payment transaction is eligible for a tax refund; determining a tax refund value corresponding to the payment transaction; determining that the payment transaction is authorised for a tax refund, and coordinating with at least an issuer associated with the electronic payment card in order to credit an account associated with the electronic payment card with the tax refund value. The invention is also expressed as a computing platform configured to perform the method steps previously described, and also to a system.
