  • Publication number: 20080044452
Abstract: A system for treating tissue carcinomas and benign inflammatory conditions of the urinary tract includes a flowable medium containing a bioactive agent and a thermogelling aqueous polymer solution. The thermogelling aqueous polymer solution maintains the bioactive agent within the urinary tract for a therapeutically optimal period of time. One embodiment includes delivering a bioactive agent in a flowable medium through an orifice into a body cavity, contacting the tissue to be treated with the bioactive agent, and filling the orifice of the body cavity with a thermogelling aqueous polymer solution. The polymer solution maintains the bioactive agent in contact with the tissue to be treated for a therapeutically optimal period of time.

  • Patent number: 7206760
Abstract: A method is provided for selecting a portfolio of securities for investment purposes. Specifically, the method utilizes three types of securities-related data: price appreciation, return-on-assets ratio, and price-to-cashflow ratio. A group of securities is ranked by price appreciation, return-on-assets ratio, and price-to-cashflow ratio; a number of the securities having the highest average rank are selected for investment.

  • Patent number: 4738656
Abstract: A composite material rotor is disclosed which is made from a plurality of stacked and bonded epoxied filament wound discs, each disc providing a specially wound construction so that the modulus of the rotor body may be varied in proportion to the maximum stress encountered by the rotor during ultracentrifugation. Such a layered disc assembly allows the rotor to be fine-tuned to respond to a variety of stress encountered during ultracentrifugation. Where upper hoop stress is greater, upper disc 28 might be wound using a higher modulus filament fiber than the fiber used by disc 26.

  • Patent number: 4253154
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for obtaining and displaying SEM X-ray line scans and maps for data collection and presentation in energy dispersive X-ray analysis of materials, having ratemeter circuitry providing a voltage output proportional to the intensity of detected pulses in an energy window and an absolute digital representation of the intensity count rate both corrected for dead time, input multiplexing and multiple output buffering of the ratemeter to accomodate multiple channel signals, a feedback loop from said ratemeter to provide display image enhancement, inhibit circuitry to eliminate background signals, signal averging circuitry to permit storage of multiple line scan of multiple single channel analyser outputs in a multi-channel analyser for later processing and display circuitry for displaying stored line scans.

  • Patent number: 4236151
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamic variable scaling of spectral data utilizing the full available display area. Circuitry is provided to accept an initial upper scale limit. As a displayed data peak exceeds the initial preset limit, the maximum full scale limit is recomputed and the scale adjusted to accommodate the new data peaks on the full display area, each recomputation using as an upper scale limit a value slightly higher than the greatest peak value encountered. The method and apparatus may be utilized to vary dynamically each axis of a data display.

  • Patent number: 4092720
Abstract: A method of and device for machining workpieces on a multi-tool machine provided with a numerical control system. For the automatic, simultaneous execution of machining instructions which relate to the control of more than one tool, instruction groups are formed from machining instructions which can be simultaneously executed on the basis of their mutual independence. Within an instruction group, partial dependency can exist, on the basis whereof a subsequent instruction is executed, after a condition imposed in a previous instruction has been satisfied.
