  • Patent number: 9417677
Abstract: Power management notifications are provided to a user of a portable electronic device by monitoring a current power level of a power supply in a portable electronic device. A determination is made, with the portable electronic device, whether the current power level is one of less than and equal to a given threshold. One or more wireless detection operations are performed to determine whether a power supply charging device is in proximity to the portable electronic device. The power supply charging device is unattached to the portable electronic device. A notification is presented at the portable electronic device, in response to both the current power level is determined to be one of less than and equal to the given threshold, and the power supply charging device being wirelessly detected in proximity to the portable electronic device.

  • Patent number: 8949363
Abstract: A method and a plurality of communication devices configured to control notification of reception of a same message by at least one of the plurality of communication devices. The method includes determining that a plurality of communication devices are in proximity with each other, determining that a same message was received by the plurality of communication devices, and determining at least one communication device of the plurality of communication devices on which to inhibit producing a notification that indicates the message was received. The at least one communication device delays a pre-determined amount of time while monitoring for reception of a signal that indicates the message was read, and based on determination that the delay of the pre-determined amount of time has expired and that the communication device has failed to receive the signal, the communication device produces the notification.

  • Publication number: 20120220220
Abstract: A communications system may include a first electronic device that may include a display having an array of pixels, each pixel retaining a given state between refreshes and without electrical power supplied thereto, a first near-field communications (NFC) device, and a first controller coupled to the first NFC device and the display. The communications system may also include a second electronic device to be removably coupled with the first electronic device and comprising a second NFC device and a second controller coupled thereto. The second controller may be configured to determine status information related to the first electronic device and communicate the status information to the first controller via the first and second NFC devices. The first controller may be configured to display on the display the status information.
