  • Patent number: 11183861
Abstract: An external battery device is implemented which can detachably engage with a smartwatch to thereby enable seamless battery replacement and smartwatch battery replenishment without having to remove the smartwatch from a user's wrist. The external battery device can be a bezel that aesthetically fits in a cut-out around a perimeter of the smartwatch's face and locks in place using, for example, a male-female connection mechanism. The external battery device includes a casing that functions as the bezel for the watch. The casing includes a channel inside which a rechargeable battery is positioned. The male connectors of the external battery device extend downward from a hole in the casing to engage with corresponding female receptacles on the smartwatch. In typical implementations, two different shapes of the male and female connection mechanisms may be used to provide a consistent manner in which the user connects the external battery device to the smartwatch.

  • Publication number: 20210357001
Abstract: Primary and companion smartphones and mobile devices are configured with magnetic connection mechanisms in which stagnant connectors are positioned at respective cutouts on the smartphones, and the connectors magnetically connect to each other. Each cutout includes a spacer that retracts and extends based on the rotational movement of the smartphones. The cutout, connectors, and spacers on each of the primary and companion smartphones are substantially identical and have similar configurations. Each connector is magnetized to enable attraction when both devices are adjacent to each other. Each magnetized connector is connected to an electromagnet wire (e.g., a copper wire), which is internal to each computing device that delivers electricity to the magnetic connectors to create magnetism. The electromagnet wires may receive an electrical current from respective batteries internal to the smartphones to which an end of the wire is connected.

  • Patent number: 11169571
Abstract: A portable laptop computing device includes an internal casing that stores secondary displays which extend outward from the device's primary display to thereby increase the amount of displays a user can view while operating the device. The secondary displays are positioned inside a casing of the primary display which is large enough to house at least two displays. The two displays are connected to a hinge which is configured to provide inward and outward movement and rotational movement of the secondary display about 360°. The system can also be implemented with an expansive ecosystem of interoperable components, including an add-on component from which secondary displays can extend, vertical screen adapters which can replace the customary horizontal configuration, a stand to which the add-on component can connect, and a horizontal screen adapter that connects with the stand to provide a convenient three-display set-up when used with the add-on component.

  • Publication number: 20210345031
Abstract: A charging case is configured with two sides that can store a pair of earbuds on one side and a pair of batteries on the other side; the batteries are connectable and interchangeable with the earbuds. Underneath a top lid is two earbud homes which correspond to the size and shape of the earbuds. The homes include an upper portion to hold the main body of the earbuds and an opening that receives the ear tip of the earbuds. Underneath the charging case's bottom lid are battery homes that can store and charge the earbud's detachable and rechargeable batteries. Each earbud and battery home includes charging points that engage with corresponding charging points on the earbuds and batteries, respectively. Charging lights that extend around a horizontal perimeter of the charging case are utilized to notify the user of input earbuds or batteries' charging status.

  • Patent number: 11140256
Abstract: Disclosed is a device having a processor, a sensor and a computer-readable storage device storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including receiving an interaction with the device indicating an intent of a user of the device to initiate a function, sensing, via the sensor, a condition associated with the device, and determining, based on the condition, a probability of whether the user intended to initiate the function using the device to yield a determination. When the determination indicates that the condition causes a sufficient probability to exist at a threshold that the user did not intend to initiate the function, the instructions prevent the device from initiating the function. When the determination indicates that the condition does cause a sufficient probability to exist at the threshold that the user did intend to initiate the function, the instructions initiate the function on the device.

  • Publication number: 20210181517
Abstract: A head-mounted display (HMD) computing device is adapted with a channel and a receptacle to which an external battery can removably connect for providing power to the HMD device. The receptacle and battery can adapt to one or more of a shape and form of a portion of the HMD device's housing to enhance the components' aesthetic appearance. The HMD device may have an internal and rechargeable battery that holds a charge and can feed off the externally connectable battery. As the external battery's power begins to deplete, the user can disconnect the external battery from the HMD device's receptacle and then connect another distinct external battery. The user can continue to attach differently and charged external batteries so that the HMD device can last all day without being placed into submission to receive a charge from some charging dock or USB (universal serial bus) cable.
