    Abstract: A system and method for rebuilding a drive is disclosed in which the write cache of the drive is enabled and a separate record is kept of the commands transmitted to the drive. On a periodic basis, the drive flushes the data in its cache, and the history of commands is cleared. When the drive is successfully rebuilt, the cache of the drive is disabled.
