    Abstract: A tampon applicator has a barrel and a plunger telescopically mounted within the barrel. In a preferred embodiment, one or both of the barrel and plunger is made of a water dispersible material, and is exposed to a source of infrared radiation to minimize surface stickiness on initial contact with moisture. In an alternative embodiment, the barrel or plunger can be coated with a water dispersible material prior to exposure to infrared radiation.
