  • Publication number: 20240139064
Abstract: Methods of operating a haptic actuator to apply physical and/or thermal sensations to a user to provide subjective symptom relief to a user are described. In some embodiments, a haptic actuator may be automatically activated when one or more detected user states are compared to one or more predetermined activation parameters to determine the user is experiencing an episode related to a condition of the user. In another embodiment, one or more operating parameters of a haptic actuator may be updated if the haptic actuator did not provided a desired amount of subjective symptom relief to a user during use. In yet another embodiment, a haptic actuator may create an event log based on activation events when the haptic actuator is used to provide symptom relief for a condition of the user.

  • Publication number: 20230412807
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for compression of feature tensors of a neural network are provided. One or more encoding parameters for encoding the channels of a feature tensor are selected according to the importance of the channels. This enables unequal bit allocation according to the importance. Furthermore, the deployed neural network may be trained or fine-tuned considering the effect of encoding noise applied to the intermediate feature tensors. According to the present disclosure, the encoding and modified training methods are advantageous at least for employment in a collaborative intelligence framework.

  • Publication number: 20230106778
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for modifying a quantizer. In particular, within a preliminary set of quantization levels, at least one quantization level is modified based on optimization involving distortion for a predetermined set of input values. At least one another quantization level out of the preliminary set is not modified. The not modified (non-modifiable) quantization level is the minimum clipping value or the maximum clipping value. The modification may facilitate increasing the dynamic range of the quantized/inverse-quantized data. Such modified quantizer may be advantageous for employment in neural networks to compress their data such as feature maps or the like. It may improve accuracy of the neural network.

  • Publication number: 20230065862
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to scalable encoding and decoding of pictures. In particular, a picture is processed by one or more network layers of a trained module to obtain base layer features. Then, enhancement layer features are obtained, e.g. by a trained network processing in sample domain. The base layer features are for use in computer vision processing. The base layer features together with enhancement layer features are for use in picture reconstruction, e.g. for human vision. The base layer features and the enhancement layer features are coded in a respective base layer bitstream and an enhancement layer bitstream. Accordingly, a scalable coding is provided which supports computer vision processing and/or picture reconstruction.

  • Publication number: 20220075624
Abstract: Branch prediction circuitry predicts an outcome of a branch instruction. A pipeline circuitry processes instructions along a first path from a predicted branch of the branch instruction. The instructions along the first path are processed concurrently with processing instructions along a second path from an unpredicted branch of the branch instruction. Information representing the state of the second portion while processing the second path is stored in one or more buffers. The instructions are processed along the second path using the information stored in the buffers in response to a misprediction of the outcome of the branch instruction. In some cases, the branch prediction circuitry determines a confidence level for the predicted outcome and the instructions along the second path from the unpredicted branch are processed in response to the confidence level being below a threshold confidence.

  • Patent number: 10499054
Abstract: A point cloud encoder including an input interface to accept a dynamic point cloud including a sequence of point cloud frames of a scene. A processor encodes blocks of a current point cloud frame to produce an encoded frame. Wherein, for encoding a current block of the current point cloud frame, a reference block is selected similar to the current block according to a similarity metric to serve as a reference to encode the current block. Pair each point in the current block to a point in the reference block based on values of the paired points. Encode the current block based on a combination of an identification of the reference block and residuals between the values of the paired points. Wherein the residuals are ordered according to an order of the values of the points in the reference block. A transmitter transmits the encoded frame over a communication channel.

  • Publication number: 20190116372
Abstract: Systems and methods for a point cloud decoder including a processor to decode each block in a set of blocks from a point cloud, so as to obtain a decoded point cloud. Wherein each block includes a set of points, such that for each block the processor is to decode a set of prediction residuals from a compressed bitstream. Use a predetermined location in the block, and compute for each prediction residual in the set of prediction residuals, a position of a point by adding the prediction residual to the predetermined location, so as to obtain a set of decoded points for the block. Wherein the decoded points for the blocks in the set of blocks represent the decoded point cloud.

  • Publication number: 20190050882
Abstract: A game in which game players receive clues as to the identity of target items, and locate the target items, and take pictures of the target items. The pictures are provided to a central unit, which determines winners of the game. The winners of the game may be determined based on the game player who utilizes the least amount of time to locate, image, and submit pictures of all the target locations, or those who submit the most pictures of different target items in a predefined time period.
