  • Publication number: 20240153182
Abstract: A method for updating a subject avatar with a facial expression collected in real time. The method includes receiving, from a sensor on a facial interface of a headset, a signal indicative of a movement in a facial muscle from a user of the headset, determining a facial expression of the user with the signal from the sensor in the facial interface of the headset, based on a machine learning algorithm trained to associate the facial expression to the movement of the facial muscle, adjusting a subject avatar for the user of the headset based on the facial expression, and providing the subject avatar to an immersive reality application hosted by a remote server. A headset, a computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processor cause the headset to perform the above method, and the processor, are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20060283059
Abstract: A bottle identifier includes a substantially circular, disk-shaped main body constructed of a resiliently flexible plastic material. The main body includes an outer peripheral edge, top and bottom substantially flat surfaces adapted to receive identifying indicia, a substantially circular opening defining an inner peripheral edge and adapted to receive the neck portion of the bottle, and a slit extending from the inner peripheral edge to the outer peripheral edge. The slit provides opposing end portions that are resiliently movable apart from another during attachment to and detachment from the neck portion of the bottle. The opening has a diameter that is smaller than a diameter of the flange of the bottle so that the main body may abut against the flange when the main body is removably attached to the neck portion of the bottle.

  • Patent number: 6357380
Abstract: A SOLAS-compliant rescue boat davit for storing, launching and retrieving a rescue boat. The rescue boat davit has an A-frame lifting arm that supports the rescue boat in a stowed position and rotates approximately 20° about the base of the A-frame to assist in hoisting and lowering the rescue boat. A sheave assembly and a davit stop fitting assembly are mounted on the apex of the A-frame lifting arm and accommodate a winch line at the A-frame apex. An electrical winch hoists and lowers the rescue boat, via the winch line, and a stop ring on the winch line operates in conjunction with the davit stop fitting to cause the winch line to rotate the A-frame lifting arm forward. A post assembly mounted to the transom of a ship provides a mount for the electrical winch and supports the A-frame lifting arm via a wire strop. A boarding platform is also mounted to the transom of the ship to permit boarding of the rescue boat in its stowed position.

  • Patent number: 6336608
Abstract: A combination flexible web roller guide assembly and an integral centrifugal pump (fan) functional device located inside the roller's outer surface where an air bearing flexible web support Hydrostatic air film is created upon the roller guide's exterior circular surface. The air bearing film is created when a web is mounted onto the roller's exterior surface with web tension applied and the roller's Outer Tube is rotated by some external means. This results in a web support device that possesses the advantages of roller guides AND air bearings, and none of their disadvantages. A highly reliable mechanical device is obtained simply by the incorporation of centrifugal fan-like vanes and an air path from the atmospheric exterior, to inside the outer tube of the roller into spaces between the vanes, and finally through multiple air ports located on the roller's outer tube surface.

  • Patent number: 5969912
Abstract: A bi-directional magnetic recording/reproduce head surface contour that provides the lowest possible Head-to-Media separation at high media-to-head relative speeds with accompanying best condition head or media wear conditions. The Bernoulli Pockets provide the mechanism that forces the media to fly very close to the recording head gap(s). Depending upon the speed, data rate and capacity goals of the Tape Product the Bernoulli Pocket design can be developed per this invention to provide the required flying conditions. This operating performance is equivalent in both directions selected by a Magnetic Data Recorder. It is intended for use on single, or multiple gap data recorders that record data upon media in a Serpentine manner, in single track or multiple track formats, but may be used in single direction Data Recorders also. The design is not limited to a particular width of tape and can be used on many different data recorders using various width media.
