Abstract: A system and method for detecting a display connection. The system includes a transmitter operable to be coupled to a receiver. The transmitter includes a controller operable to generate a connect signal when the receiver is coupled to the controller and is further operable to generate a disconnect signal when the receiver is uncoupled from the controller. The transmitter further includes a detection component operable to detect the connect signal and is further operable to detect the disconnect signal.
