  • Patent number: 5701062
Abstract: A pulsing drive system delivers pulsed power signals to the driven wheels of a vehicle for improving the efficiency internal combustion or an electric motor driven vehicles. A controller receives signals such as velocity and demand, and communicates to a means for selectively communicating energy wherein the means for selectively communicating energy converts the pulse signal to a correspondingly conditioned power pulse for powering the vehicle. When combined with a plurality of motors sized with optimal horsepower ranges according to a binary array, an arrangement of such motors provides for an optimally efficient operation of the vehicle by bringing on-line strategically selected combinations of the motors. A control system selectively brings on-line the multiple motors.

  • Patent number: 5572857
Abstract: A shear capable of cutting weeds close to the ground, without cutting grass in the presence of the weeds, is described. The shear can be implemented as a battery operated hand held device or as a shear mounted on a lawn mower. The shear operates by maintaining a spacing between the blades such that the flexible grass will only be bent between the blades. Weeds which have a thicker and stiffer shaft than the grass will be cut, thus functioning as a selective mechanical herbicide.

  • Patent number: 5005263
Abstract: An eyeglass support system including an eyeglass frame having a frame front, a temple at each side of the frame front, a pair of earpieces connected to the temples by hinges, an elongated flexible member for securing the frame to a wearer, and a securing mechanism for attaching a flexible member to the frame. The securing mechanism includes an eyelet secured to the frame, and at least one clip for removably attaching the flexible member to the eyelet. In a preferred embodiment, the clip includes a body portion and a hook portion between which extends a spring bar closure. The spring bar closure is opened and closed by means of a spring bar lever that is pivotably attached to the body portion of the clip. The eyelet itself may be mounted on various portions of the eyeglass hinge.

  • Patent number: 4149565
Abstract: A valve assembly is provided in which a first poppet member and at least one subsequent poppet member each having a valve face engageable with a valve seat between first and second passages. A first and a subsequent pilot valve is operative for selectively establishing communication between a fluid reservoir and a space at one side of a piston portion of each poppet member and a pair of restricted flow passages are provided in each poppet member between such space and the first and second passages, such restricted flow passages being preferably formed in the poppet members with ball check valves provided therein. Such restricted flow passages operate upon closure of the pilot valve to develop a static pressure in the space corresponding to the pressure in the one of the first and second passage which has the higher pressure therein so as to move the poppet member to and hold it in its closed position in response to pressures applied from either of the first and second passages.
