  • Patent number: 6173228
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controllably engaging, or disengaging, or both engaging and disengaging, a neutralize mode associated with a transmission located on a machine is disclosed. The machine has a controller, a memory associated with the controller, and a braking system. A determined system brake pressure is compared with at least one of an established neutralize pressure value and in gear pressure value. The neutralize mode is engaged or disengaged in response to the comparison.

  • Patent number: 5931218
Abstract: An apparatus for cooling an axle assembly includes a housing defining a chamber having a first fluid contained therein. The apparatus also includes a conduit located within the chamber. The apparatus further includes a fluid source in fluid communication with the conduit, wherein (1) a second fluid located within the fluid source is advanced through the conduit, and (2) the first fluid located within the housing does not intermix with the second fluid being advanced through the conduit. A method of cooling a differential assembly is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5697472
Abstract: This invention relates to an indicating apparatus to determine the amount of wear that has occurred in the friction material of a brake assembly or other friction coupling. The apparatus utilizes a pin member that is positioned in a sealed bore in the housing of the friction coupling. A first end portion of the pin member is positioned for contact and movement of an actuating piston when the piston is in an engaged position. The distance between the a second end portion of the pin member, housed within the bore, and an outer surface of the housing may be determined by a depth gage. Measurements may be taken to determine movement of the pin member within the bore and thereby establish the amount of wear of the friction material in the friction.

  • Patent number: 4642052
Abstract: A denture includes an upper and lower row of teeth, with a continuous chewing bar embedded along the buccal cusps of at least part of the lower row. Insert members are embedded in the opposed occlusal faces of teeth in the upper row, and are shaped to form arches or indents against which the chewing bar travels on articulation of the denture to create a scissors action.

  • Patent number: 3947666
Abstract: A card reader for reading a Hollerith coded card where the holes in the card are scanned by a single array of photo detectors as the card is withdrawn from a slot, and where an edge detector determines when the card is fully inserted into the slot so as to activate a scanner and signal a memory unit to accept data from the scanner, and where an error detector detects any improper scanning of the card by counting the number of rows scanned and prevents processing of incorrectly generated data.
