  • Patent number: 4776408
Abstract: A pneumatic impact tool having a special cushioning assembly for cushioning the repeated recoil of a hammer piston and thereby providing substantially reduced tool vibration during use. The cushioning assembly includes an energy-dissipating damping sub-assembly and an energy-storing coil spring sub-assembly arranged in series with each other such that they operate simultaneously, yet independently, to cushion the hammer piston's rearward movement over a wide range of operating speeds.

  • Patent number: 4476942
Abstract: An inlet control valve particularly useful in connection with pneumatic tools or the like. The valve includes a longitudinally depressible member passing loosely through a frusto-conical plug in a matching frusto-conical valve seat. In the closed position, the plug is seated and the stem is sealed by an O-ring. As the trigger is depressed, the O-ring first releases a path for fluid flow about the shaft within the plug providing an idle speed. Further depressing of the trigger causes a shoulder to contact the plug and, thereafter, move the plug rearward which provides an increasing amount of fluid flow around the plug proportional to the amount of depression thus providing a variable speed.

  • Patent number: 4043016
Abstract: Apparatus to unscrew a rotary part from a second part, as for example to remove a securing ring from a telephone receiver, comprises:A. first means to receive the second part in position for unscrewing of the rotary part which faces downwardly,B. second means to releasably grip and rotate the rotary part in an unscrewing direction while the second part is in said position, and subsequently to release the unscrewed rotary part,C. third means to block rotation of the second part while the rotary part is rotated in unscrewing direction relative to the second part,D. said first and second means located to allow the unscrewed and released rotary part to drop free of the second means, for collection.

  • Patent number: 4041747
Abstract: Apparatus for grooving pipe extending longitudinally axially comprises:A. a transversely elongated frame adapted to be displaced transversely relative to the pipe axis,B. a grooving roller having an annular boss to swage the groove in the pipe, and a back-up roller having an annular recess in transverse alignment with said boss, said rollers carried by the frame,C. and means to bodily and progressively displace one of the rollers relatively toward the other roller to cause the boss to progressively form the groove in the pipe wall being rotated between the rollers, the two rollers being rotated in response to pipe rotation.
