  • Publication number: 20030090899
Abstract: A miniature flashlight consists of a housing, a light emitting diode (LED), a pair of batteries, and a flexible cover and a contact device that acts as both a momentary contact and a conventional switch. The LED is received in a seat formed in the housing with the head portion of the diode received in an aperture in the side wall of the housing. A longer contact arm is captured in a channel formed in the bottom wall. A shorter contact arm rests on a shoulder that forms part of the LED seat. A pair of coin cell batteries are received within another seat formed in housing. The lower battery sits on top of the longer contact arm captured in the channel of the bottom wall. A resilient plastic cover is assembled with the housing to maintain the diode and the batteries within the housing.

  • Patent number: 6527419
Abstract: The present invention includes an illumination assembly consisting of a light source such as a light emitting diode (LED) that produces a near field image and a means of imaging and focusing the near field image. The LED includes a chemical light emitting chip, a reflector cup and a phosphor coating over both the emitter chip and the reflector cup to produce a uniform, concentrated, high intensity near field image. The LED also has a clear housing having a narrow angle beam distribution. The means for imaging and focusing the near field image is a convex optical lens having a radius of curvature equal to twice the overall thickness of the lens. The optical lens is installed in fixed spaced relation to the LED such that the lens is imaging the reflector cup of the LED rather than the light on the surface clear LED housing.

  • Publication number: 20020114154
Abstract: The present invention discloses an inline switch mechanism that operates in a reverse direction, making electrical contact as the flashlight head is unscrewed. The switch has an outer housing, an inner contact tube, a plunger, a contact spring, an insulator disk and a secondary spring. All of the components are electrically conductive with the exception of the insulator disk and outer housing. In the off position, the plunger floats, centered in the contact tube, with a contact end in electrical communication with the battery. A contact spring is disposed around and in electrical communication with the plunger. The insulator disk is on the back of the plunger supporting it and isolating it from the contact tube and is disposed between the plunger and the secondary spring.

  • Patent number: 4371428
Abstract: Vinyltoluene is separated from close-boiling, olefinically unsaturated alkylaromatic compounds by extractive distillation. For example, vinyltoluene is separated from cis-.beta.-methylstyrene, and from .alpha.-methylstyrene by extractive distillation using .gamma.-butyrolactone as the extracting agent.
