Patent number: 12295519Abstract: An apparatus for brewing coffee in a pre-existing vessel includes a frame, a basket, a means for agitating the basket and a power source. The basket includes at least one opening that is capable of permitting liquid to transgress into and out of the basket. The power source provides the necessary power for operating the motor. The motor is attached to the frame and a linkage connects the motor to the basket. The means for agitating the basket imparts motion to the basket during operation. The apparatus may further include an on-board heat source.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2022Date of Patent: May 13, 2025Inventor: Robert D. Jacobs

Patent number: 12295520Abstract: According to present invention, an apparatus for cold brewing beverages such as cold brew coffee includes a frame, a basket, a means for agitating the basket, a power source, and a vessel. The basket has at least one opening that is capable of permitting liquid to transgress into and out of the basket. The means for agitating the basket includes at least one motor and linkage connecting the motor to the basket. The motor is attached to the frame. The power source provides the necessary power for operating the motor. The basket is positioned within the interior cavity during normal operation and the means for agitating the basket imparts motion to the basket relative to the vessel during normal operation. The apparatus is intended to be used either at room temperature or, e.g., in a refrigerator.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2022Date of Patent: May 13, 2025Inventor: Robert D. Jacobs

Patent number: 12185734Abstract: An apparatus and method for brewing coffee of high quality and better taste while also enabling users to utilize less coffee grounds per brewing cycle, thereby achieving significant cost savings. A basket that houses a packet of coffee grounds is housed within a carafe that stores water. The basket is fabricated so that water may enter therein and exit therefrom, and the packet of coffee grounds enables water and natural coffee oils to penetrate the packet, but does not allow coffee grounds to escape the packet. The carafe is filled with water that is gradually heated from at or around tap temperature to approximately boiling. While the water in the chamber is heated, the basket is agitated. This causes the gradually heating water to enter the basket and agitate the packet, thereby extracting natural coffee oil from the grounds stored within the packet, which creates brewed coffee.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2021Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Inventor: Robert D. Jacobs

Patent number: 4863775Abstract: It is possible to produce denim fabric suitable for manufacture into garments that have the look and feel of washed and tumble dried garments, practiced in a relatively simple and quick manner. Denim fabric is treated to raise the warp yarns so that the warp yarns are adjacent the face of the fabric and positioned so that they can be rubbed and abraded to loosen the surface fibers; and then effecting abrading and rubbing of the tips of the warp crimp so as to duplicate the surface abrasion of washing and tumble drying without making a napped or brushed type finish or face. The abrading action may be practiced by sanding utilizing a fine sandpaper in the range of about 50-100 grit, employing a 9-roll T-Ralph sander with 2 to 6 rolls running at a speed of about 50 ydm.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1988Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Assignee: Burlington Industries, Inc.Inventors: Robert D. Patent number: 4155546Abstract: Apparatus for feeding sheets one-at-a-time from the bottom of a stack of sheets. The apparatus includes a conventional suction assembly moveable into contact with the bottom sheet in the stack to attach itself to that sheet, and thereafter moveable away from the stack to carry that sheet toward a utilization device. Although such a feeding system is usually effective, it has been found that the suction assembly will not reliably attach itself to the bottom sheet when that sheet is curled, arched or otherwise deformed even if only to a relatively minor extent. To alleviate this deficiency, the present invention provides a hold-down assembly moveable with the suction assembly to press down against the top of the stack to press out any deformations in the sheets while the suction assembly is operating to ensure that it will reliably attach itself to the bottom sheet.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1977Date of Patent: May 22, 1979Assignee: Itek CorporationInventor: Robert D. Patent number: 4123049Abstract: Transfer apparatus for receiving a printing plate from a first station in a first horizontal orientation and for transferring the plate to a second station in a second orientation which is both vertical and rotated 90.degree. relative to the first orientation. The apparatus comprises a receptor bin for supporting the plate, which receptor bin is, in turn, supported solely by a single rotatable shaft. By mounting the shaft to the receptor bin at a precise angular orientation, rotation of the shaft about its own axis will carry the receptor bin and the plate supported on it from the first orientation to the second orientation to transfer the plate to the second station.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1977Date of Patent: October 31, 1978Assignee: Itek CorporationInventor: Robert D. Patent number: 4089603Abstract: Apparatus for supporting a sheet of photosensitive material in the image plane of an optical imaging system for exposure thereat. The apparatus includes a first cover plate assembly having a transparent cover plate and a second backing plate assembly including a relatively flexible backing sheet. The cover plate assembly is driven into contact with the backing plate assembly with the photosensitive sheet to be exposed supported therebetween such that an air-tight chamber is defined between the cover plate assembly and the relatively flexible backing sheet. The air-tight chamber is then evacuated through the cover plate assembly, and as it is evacuated, the flexible backing plate will be sucked towards the cover plate assembly and drive the photosensitive sheet into firm contact with the transparent cover plate.By the use of the flexible backing plate, the chamber can be evacuated very rapidly, for example, in two or three seconds.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1976Date of Patent: May 16, 1978Assignee: Itek CorporationInventor: Robert D.
