  • Patent number: 5709312
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjustable, flexible cover for a container such as a trash or garbage receptacle comprising a flexible film which is impervious to water and odors and has a central portion bounded by a peripheral edge to cover the top opening of the trash receptacle whereas the peripheral edge contacts the sidewall or walls of the receptacle. The cover further has an adhesive sealing member which gathers the peripheral edge of the film to seal the top opening against the intrusion of precipitation and the leakage of odors. Optionally, the top surface of the central portion may include indicia such as holiday or sports designs. An alternative embodiment relates to a flexible bag having an adhesive sealing member on the peripheral edge thereof for application of the bag edge to the external side of the container.

  • Patent number: 5115072
Abstract: Saturated and ethylenically unsaturated compounds containing carboxylic, amino or alcohol groups are reacted under mild conditions and in short process times with polycarbodiimides containing free isocyanate units to provide polymers with excellent properties. The unsaturated groups bonded to the polymers are particularly important because these groups provide reactive centers that can be crosslinked, either thermally or in the presence of catalysts that initiate polymerization or by radiation. The polymers can also be crosslinked either alone or by copolymerization with various unsaturated monomers. The resulting crosslinked or cured resins provide excellent properties such as hardness, high elongation, excellent toughness, high heat distortion temperatures and good corrosion resistance.

  • Patent number: 3959209
Abstract: Solid curable polyester resin compositions comprising a filler or fibrous reinforcements impregnated with a solid solution of a crystalline polyester and crosslinking agent therefor are prepared by:A. mixing a liquid crosslinking agent with a solid crystalline polyester which is insoluble in said crosslinking agent at room temperature;B. heating the mixture of said solid crystalline polyester and liquid crosslinking agent to a temperature at which said polyester dissolves in said crosslinking agent and a temperature which is below that at which the polyester and crosslinking agent cure;C. forming a solid solution of said polyester and crosslinking agent by cooling the heated mixture thereof; andD. mixing with the polyester and crosslinking agent prior to the formation of said solid solution one or more of a filler, fibrous reinforcements or amorphous polyester.

  • Patent number: 3957906
Abstract: Cured polyester resin products having improved chemical resistance are prepared from a curable polyester resin comprising:A. an ethylenically unsaturated polyester having: a molecular weight of about 1,000 to about 4,000; an acid number of no greater than about 30; and a fumarate/maleate weight proportion of at least about 80%/20%, said polyester being the polyesterification reaction product of fumaric acid or maleic anhydride or mixture thereof and an acyclic glycol having a molecular weight of no greater than about 200 and an oxygen content of less than 42.6 wt. %; andB. a vinyl monomeric crosslinking agent in an amount such that the molar ratio of the ethylenic reactive unsaturation in said crosslinking agent to the ethylenic reactive unsaturation of said polyester is at least about 3 to 1, and wherein at least 50 wt.
