  • Patent number: 5643479
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for the electric arc welding of metal workpieces utilize a current comprised of squared waveform high-amplitude current pulse groups alternated with squared waveform low-amplitude current pulse groups, the current pulse groups being developed or developed and algorithmically varied in response to detected welding arc voltage/current condition changes and with respect to pulse group periods, pulse group peak current amplitudes, pulse group repetition frequencies, and pulse group current rise/fall rates for particular applications.

  • Patent number: 5535428
Abstract: A radio receiver (110) for processing a message including information about a sports event includes a message processing element (555) for locating, within the message, a final flag (225) indicative of a status of the sports event and a controller (515) coupled to the message processing element (555) for determining whether the final flag (225) is equivalent to a first or a second value. The controller (515) further determines that a score indicated by the message is a non-final score when the final flag (225) is equivalent to the first value and determines that the score is a final score when the final flag (225) is equivalent to the second value.

  • Patent number: 5504476
Abstract: A communication system (100) for alerting a user based upon content of messages transmitted to the user includes a terminal (105) for generating and transmitting a message having first and second recipient identifications (IDs) and first and second alert codes. A radio receiver (110) receives the message and determines whether the first recipient ID is equivalent to an ID associated with the radio receiver (110). When the first recipient ID is equivalent to an ID associated with the radio receiver (110), the radio receiver (110) selects one of the at least first and second alert codes based upon a location of the first recipient ID within the message and generates an alert associated with the one of the at least first and second alert codes.

  • Patent number: 5458334
Abstract: A golf club which generally includes a shaft, a grip and a clubhead, which includes a sole, a back and a clubface. The surface layer of the clubface of the golf club is a substantially harder material than the material generally comprising the clubhead. The process for imparting the substantially harder material onto and to become a part of the surface layer of the clubface generally includes micro-welding an electrode material to the surface of the clubface. The micro-welding process can be any one of a number of known micro-welding processes, such as electro-spark deposition, or others. The electro-spark deposition process generally includes the utilization of an electrode, through which short duration, high amperage charges are directed through the electrode and the clubhead. Extremely short duration discharges at high discharge frequencies result in deposition of the electrode material onto the clubface of the golf club, such that it becomes micro-welded.

  • Patent number: 5212721
Abstract: A tone only pager including an EEPROM with telephone numbers stored therein at different predetermined addresses and a DTMF signal generator. If a received signal includes one of the predetermined addresses, a DTMF telephone number corresponding to the address is generated. If a received signal also includes a different telephone number, any telephone number stored at that predetermined address may be replaced with the different telephone number. The pager also determines if the telephone number is a long distance telephone number and activates an indicator in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 4602311
Abstract: A static protective housing includes a plastic housing having an outer wall and an interior. A metallic fastener extends into the housing from the outer wall. A static vault within the housing receives the metallic fastener for insulating the fastener from the housing interior. The static vault is provided with a well portion which receives the fastener and a cover which closes the well portion.

  • Patent number: 4583774
Abstract: A battery door latching mechanism comprising two cantilevered posts incorporated in the base housing of a radio receiving device that interface with a headed rib on the base of a battery door. A recessed area in the battery housing surrounds the two cantilevered members, and prevents them from becoming overstressed due to deflection during shock, yet allowing them to deflect enough for attachment of the battery door to the housing.
