  • Patent number: 4423139
Abstract: Synergistic combinations for use in stabilizing thermographic imaging systems comprise (1) one or more aromatic compounds which form quinones, diimines, or quinonimines upon oxidation in combinaton with (2) 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidinone, or derivatives or 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidinone. When used in a thermographic imaging system comprising a nitrate salt, and a leuco dye in a binder these stabilizing combinations prevent oxidation and premature reaction of the leuco dye.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 24, 1982
Date of Patent: December 27, 1983
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Russell R. Isbrandt, Robert D. Lowrey
  • Patent number: 4401537
Abstract: A composition comprising a photopolymerizable epoxy-containing material which is useful to provide a hermetically sealed liquid crystal display cell. The photocured seal is chemically resistant to the contents of the liquid crystal cell. Adhesion of the photopolymerizable epoxy material to the glass plates of the liquid crystal cell is improved by addition of glycidoxypropyl triethoxy silane or its precondensate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 2, 1981
Date of Patent: August 30, 1983
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Mao-Jin Chern, Robert D. Lowrey
  • Patent number: 4379835
Abstract: A thermographic imaging system comprising a single layer and capable of providing a stable dark to black image upon localized heating is disclosed. The single layer comprises a polymeric binder, a combination of at least two leuco dyes, and a nitrate salt.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 1980
Date of Patent: April 12, 1983
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Robert D. Lowrey, Howard D. Nelson, George Van Dyke Tiers
  • Patent number: 4297401
Abstract: A method of making a liquid crystal display cell wherein the planar glass plates of the cell are bonded together with a photopolymerizable epoxy-containing material to form a hermetically sealed cell and wherein the photocured seal is chemically resistant to the contents of the liquid crystals cell. Adhesion of the photopolymerizable epoxy material to the glass plates of the liquid crystal cell is improved by addition of glycidoxypropyl triethoxy silane or its precondensate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 26, 1978
Date of Patent: October 27, 1981
Assignee: Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Mao-Jin Chern, Robert D. Lowrey
  • Patent number: 4128685
