Patent number: 10766106Abstract: A simplified drive press system is operable to press-fit a pair of first workpieces into a second workpiece. The drive press system uses a simplified mechanical arrangement to translate an input torque into movement of a pair of drive arms toward and away from one another. Yokes of differing configurations may be attached to the drive arms to accommodate a variety of different workpieces. A nut runner may be used to supply a drive torque to the gear assembly and provide a controlled input torque and control the movement of the drive arms. An overall reduction may be utilized that balances a desired movement resolution with the desire to detect changes in input torque. The nut runner may be programmable to provide a desired movement of the drive arms while monitoring the input torque to detect when a fully press-fitted condition is realized.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2016Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.Inventors: Keith J. Wells, Robert D. McClain

Patent number: 10053333Abstract: A platform lift configured for supporting the movement of items between a floor-level area and an elevated area includes a rigid, floor-level platform with two opposed sides, an above-floor mast arranged at each of the opposed sides of the platform, and a knuckle assembly coupling each mast to its respective side of the platform. The masts together support the platform for movement in a lifting direction normal to the platform, and each include an actuator coupled to its respective side of the platform that is selectively operable to impart lifting movement thereto in the lifting direction. The knuckle assemblies together permit the platform's rotation towards and away from the masts when their respective actuators impart different amounts of lifting movement to the opposed sides of the platform in the lifting direction.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2016Date of Patent: August 21, 2018Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.Inventors: Keith J. Patent number: 5879534Abstract: A method of inhibiting the formation of fouling deposits occurring in spent caustic wash systems used for ethylene dichloride (EDC) manufacturing processes. Fouling occurs in these systems when they are in contact with EDC processing streams contaminated with oxygen-containing compounds, such as aldehydes. These deposits are formed in EDC processing streams contaminated with oxygen-containing compounds while in contact with a caustic solution having a pH>7. The invention comprises adding an effective deposit-inhibiting amount of a non-enolizable carbonyl compound to the caustic solution. Preferred non-enolizable carbonyl compounds are formaldehyde, glyoxal, benzaldehyde, p-anisaldehyde, formic acid, glyoxalic acid and paraformaldehyde.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1998Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignee: Nalco/Exxon Energy Chemicals, L.P.Inventors: Vincent E. Lewis, Robert D. McClain, Michael K. Poindexter

Patent number: 5770041Abstract: The invention is a method of inhibiting the formation of fouling deposits occurring on the surface of an alkaline scrubber used to remove acid gases, such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and mercaptans, from hydrocarbon streams. These deposits are formed during the scrubbing of pyrolytically produced hydrocarbons contaminated with oxygen-containing compounds with a caustic solution having a pH>7 which comprises adding an effective deposit-inhibiting amount of a non-enolizable carbonyl compound to the caustic solution. The invention is also a method of inhibiting the formation of fouling deposits occurring in spent caustic wash/stripper systems used for hydrocarbon manufacturing processes. Fouling occurs in these systems when they are in contact with hydrocarbon processing streams contaminated with oxygen-containing compounds, such as aldehydes.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1997Date of Patent: June 23, 1998Assignee: Nalco/Exxon Energy Chemicals, L.P.Inventors: Vincent E.
