  • Patent number: 5885040
Abstract: A tie-down comprising a flexible strap adapted to be wrapped around an object to be tied down, a first member at one end of the strap having a first hole formed therein and a second member to which the other end of the strap is attached having a second hole formed therein in alignment with the first hole. A fastener having a head and a threaded shank is arranged with the head engaging the first member and with the shank extending through the first and second holes and having a threaded end portion projecting out of the second hole. A nut is threaded on the projecting end portion of the shank and engaged against the second member for being turned to act through the fastener for drawing the first and second members together to tighten the strap around the object and place the fastener and the strap under a predetermined tension. The fastener has an indicator for indicating the tension in the fastener and thereby indicating the tension in the strap. The first member is formed for observation of the indicator.

  • Patent number: 5748896
Abstract: A method for managing network services on the plurality of network servers in a computer network. The method includes the step of providing at least one service component in a component repository. The service component corresponds to one of the network services. There is also included the step of providing a server manager component, which communicates with the component repository to ascertain the presence of the service component. Additionally, the method includes the step of executing a service object associated with the service component. When executed, the service object communicates with the plurality of network servers to obtain network service instantiation data relating to instantiations of the one of the network services on the plurality of network servers. The method also includes the step of passing the network service instantiation data to a server manager window component for displaying a status of the instantiations responsive to the network service instantiation data.

  • Patent number: 5729734
Abstract: An improved file service administration method is disclosed in a computer network having an administrator account and a user account. The administrator account has an administrator privilege, and the user account has a user privilege which is different from the administrator privilege. The computer network further includes at least one sharepoint that is selectively accessible through the user account. The includes the step of displaying, in accordance with the administrator privilege and through the administrator account, the sharepoint on the computer display screen. There is further included the step of modifying, through the administrator account, the access privilege for the user account. Furthermore, the method includes the step of displaying, in accordance with the user privilege and through the administrator account, the sharepoint and the access privilege for the user account.

  • Patent number: 5531490
Abstract: A door security device allows partial opening of a door by coupling a door to a floor structure. The coupling is provided by a door bar including first and second length portions in spaced, parallel relation. The first and second length portions are interconnected by a coupling portion perpendicular thereto. One length portion is pivotally mounted in a floor on the inside of a doorway. The other length portion then assumes an upstanding vertical position. As the door opens, the door engages the upstanding length portion and moves towards an open position so long as the door bar permits. Eventually, the door bar blocks further opening of the door and maintains the door in a secure condition despite partial opening. In a second mode of use, the door bar is reoriented and inserted within the pivotal mounting of the floor to pin the door shut in closed condition. The door security device offers advantage in its ease of installation and use, low cost, and effective security against forced entry.
