    Abstract: A vessel for separating entrained particles from a gas in which a vertically extending tubular portion extends through a portion of a housing for providing an outlet for the gas after separation from the particles. The tubular portion includes a tube formed into a spiral coil, and a continuous fin extends from the tube for the entire length of the tube. The fin is welded to adjacent sections of the tube to render the coil airtight. A layer of insulation material extends to both sides of the coil.

    Abstract: A divided rotary valve feeder includes an inlet conduit, an outlet divided into a plurality of passages by webs, and rotor mounted between the inlet conduit and the outlet. The rotor includes vanes defining troughs and partitions dividing the troughs into a plurality of compartments. The partitions engage the webs to assure discharge of material from each compartment to an aligned passage, and the passages are in communication with conveyors for moving the material to a point of use. Tiltable splitter plates may be provided in the inlet conduit in engagement with the partitions to evenly distribute the flow of material to the compartments in each trough. Compressed air or other gas may be fed to each of the compartments to assist the discharge of material either by direct contact or by flexing a flexible boot in each compartment.

A baffle system is disposed in the housing for impacting with the entrained particulate material in the air and gaseous products of combustion to remove the latter material and permit it to fall by gravity back to the bed. A series of tube sections are provided in the housing for directing the air and gaseous products to the baffle means and gases are injected from the proximity of the baffle means downwardly towards the bed.

The emulsion is stabilized by the second liquid phase containing at least one substantially insoluble particulate solid which is substantially non-reactive to constituents contained in each of such phases in an amount sufficient to form a stable emulsion. Transfer of the species is from the fluid phase through the second solids--containing liquid phase to the first liquid phase.In one embodiment, the first liquid phase is lean with respect to the species to be extracted. In another embodiment, mass action is utilized to maintain a driving force by counter-transport of a different ion.
