  • Patent number: 4053199
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a connector portion for a filter array mounted in a panel or bulkhead. The filter and pin assemblies are soldered to the panel with their pins extending above the panel in a predetermined array for connection to an external connector. A connector housing is mounted on the panel and surrounds the filter pins, the external mating connector making a friction and/or lock securing connection to the connector housing and connection to the filter pins without application of stresses caused by an unsupported and/or unguided connection.

  • Patent number: 3991347
Abstract: A method of one step soldering of the outer diameter of a filter sleeve to a printed circuit board while soldering the leads thereto simultaneously as well as the completed filter assembly. The method comprises provided a printed circuit board having an electrically conductive coating on at least the upper surface with a portion of the conductor removed in the regions where leads from the filter to be positioned on the top surface of the printed circuit board are to extend through the printed circuit board for soldering. The printed circuit board includes apertures extending entirely therethrough, not only for the leads from the components positioned on the surface thereof, but also beneath filter sleeves positioned on the printed circuit board. The apertures in the printed circuit board are preferably coated with an electrically conductive material to provide better adherence for the solder during the soldering operation.

  • Patent number: 3961295
Abstract: A solderless filter assembly wherein a filter in the form of a sleeve having a hollow bore extending therethrough is placed in electrical contact with a mounting body positioned therearound and an electrically conductive pin passing through the bore of the filter without requirement of solder. This is accomplished by providing an internal spring positioned around the pin and having convex tines thereon which provide a pressure fit with the internal diameter of the filter sleeve and is frictionally locked onto the pin. A second spring having concave tines is positioned around the outer diameter of the filter sleeve and provides a pressure fit therewith, the outer spring also making electrical contact with the shell or mounting body surrounding the filter. The filter sleeve and spring members are isolated from the external environment by pot stops which are positioned within cut out regions of the mounting body.

  • Patent number: 3961294
Abstract: A technique for adapting an existing connector of the type having conductive pins or sockets therein to accommodate sleeve form electrical filters. A conducting shell within which filters and pins or sockets are secured is adapted for mounting to an existing connector. Any combination of one circuit to a full compliment of circuits within the connector configuration can be filtered. Those circuits not filtered will have pins or sockets which are conductive. The filtered pins or sockets are secured within the connector through the conducting shell assembly, whereas the nonfiltered pins or sockets are secured within the connector itself. The rear portion of the connector assembly is filled with an insulating material to protect the filters and hold the rear extension of the pins or sockets to the basic connector configuration.

  • Patent number: 3939444
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a filter module which is self groundable when mounted on a printed circuit board. The filter modules include a pair of ground planes mounted normal to each other and each secured to the ground sleeves of the filters and also to a ground plane on the printed circuit board.
