  • Publication number: 20240115118
Abstract: An endoscope comprises a handpiece housing, an elongate flexible shaft extending from the handpiece housing, a pull wire extending from the handpiece housing into the elongate flexible shaft, and a tensioning mechanism configured to adjust tension in the pull wire. A method for adjusting tension in a pull wire of a controller for an endoscope comprises preparing an endoscope for use before a procedure, adjusting tension in a pull wire for deflecting a flexible elongate shaft of the endoscope to reduce knob dwell, and performing an endoscopic procedure with the endoscope.

  • Publication number: 20240116638
Abstract: An aircraft includes external structures, and one or more thermal emitters integrated with one or more of the external structures. The one or more thermal emitters are configured to generate heat to deice the one or more external structures. The one or more thermal emitters are configured to receive electrical power from one or more of an auxiliary power unit of the aircraft, a power distribution system of the aircraft, one or more engines of the aircraft, or an external power cart that is separate and distinct from the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8733723
Abstract: A cable tray expansion splice plate for connecting first and second cable tray sections end-to-end is disclosed. The splice plate includes an elongate body having a central section, an upper flange section, and a lower flange section. In one embodiment, the lower flange section defines a channel for receiving components of the first and second cable tray sections such that the lower flange section underlies the components. Fastener openings in the central section receive fasteners to fasten the body to the cable tray sections. These openings include slots which permit the cable tray sections to move relative to one another in a longitudinal direction.

  • Publication number: 20100127299
Abstract: A lighting system can comprise one or more light emitting diodes (“LEDs”) that emit substantially white light and a thermoelectric cooler (“TEC”) for maintaining the LEDs within a temperature range. The TEC can comprise an electrical circuit that includes two different semiconductors or two dissimilar metals that provide cooling when electrically energized. The electrical circuit can adjoin or touch one side of a plate, sheet, wafer, or substrate of material, such as ceramic, that insulates electricity and conducts heat. In operation, the electrical circuit can cool the plate or actively transfer heat from the plate. The LEDs can adjoin or touch the side of the plate that is opposite the electrical circuit. Thus, a TEC circuit can contact one surface of a thin piece of ceramic material, while an LED contacts the opposite surface.
