  • Patent number: 9423046
Abstract: An apparatus such as for a solenoid valve assembly includes a substantially annular flux collector (12) that has a first arced portion (10) and at least one additional arced portion (14). The first arced portion and the at least one additional arced portion are cooperatively configured to interlock with one another to form the substantially annular flux collector. A method (200) of manufacturing a solenoid valve assembly using the annular flux collector is also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 20, 2013
Date of Patent: August 23, 2016
    Assignee: Eaton Corporation
    Inventors: Daniel Bamber, Robert Dayton

  • Publication number: 20070151614
Abstract: A valve assembly including valve portion including a bore, a spool received within the bore and configured for axial movement along the longitudinal axis between an open position in which fluid flow through the bore is permitted and a closed position in which fluid flow through the bore is prevented. An impellor is coupled to the spool and configured to rotate the spool about the longitudinal axis.

  • Publication number: 20070056645
Abstract: A solenoid valve and method has a simplified structure that integrates the fluid metering functions of the spool in the armature, thereby eliminating the need for a separate spool, bearings, and pin in the valve. The armature has a aperture that communicates with at least one port in a valve body. The position of the differential in the armature with respect to the ports in the valve body controls the pressure of fluid exiting the outputs of the valve body. In one embodiment, the same overall valve structure can be modified to form both inversely proportional valves and directly proportional valves. By integrating the fluid metering functions of the spool into a single ported armature, the inventive valve assembly reduces the number of parts in the valve, simplifying construction.

  • Publication number: 20060145113
Abstract: A solenoid operated valve with the armature disposed within the coil axially between first and second flux collectors. A flux director surrounding the armature has annular portions thereof contracting one of the flux collectors and has a plurality of fingers spaced circumferentially about the annular portion and extending inwardly toward the armature to increase and distribute the flux thereto for minimizing magnetic side loading due to eccentricity.
