  • Patent number: 8205342
Abstract: A reciprocating saw including a first end, a working end opposite the first end, and a housing extending between the first end and the working end. A reciprocating shaft is supported within the housing and has a longitudinal axis. A locking mechanism is supported at the housing and is selectively moveable between a first position and a second position. When the locking mechanism is in the first position the reciprocating shaft is configured to substantially reciprocate relative to the housing but remain substantially rotationally fixed relative to the longitudinal axis of the reciprocating shaft. When the locking mechanism is in the second position, the reciprocating shaft is configured to substantially reciprocate relative to the housing and at the same time substantially rotate about the longitudinal axis of the reciprocating shaft independent of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20110296968
Abstract: A table saw comprises a non magnetic table top surface, a rotatable cutting blade extending through a longitudinal opening of the table top surface, a fence plate for supporting a work piece, the fence plate being adjustable relative to a path that intersects the longitudinal opening, and a feedback mechanism for indicating a position of the fence plate relative to the longitudinal opening. The feedback mechanism comprises a magnetic material or at least one magnet disposed on or in the table top surface adjacent to the longitudinal opening and extending parallel to the cutting blade, and the magnetic material or at least one magnet is disposed in the path of the fence plate. The fence plate further comprises a magnetic material or at least one magnet at or near an end thereof to interact with the other of the magnetic material or at least one magnet on or in the table top surface when the fence plate is selectively positioned relative to the path towards the longitudinal opening.

  • Patent number: 6167626
Abstract: A dust collection port for a circular saw is formed on the upper rear end of a blade guard. A spring biased door pivotally moved between a closed position and an open position is provided over the port. The guard includes exit ribs and return ribs in the region of the port where the ribs direct the flow of the dust formed by the saw blade. The door includes ribs on the underside surface to secure a hose in the port when the door is in the open position. When the door is in the open position, dust flows through cavity formed by the guard into the exit ribs and into a hose inserted into the port. In the closed position, the dust flows through the exit ribs and into the return ribs to exit through the open lower end of the guard.
