  • Patent number: 6927058
Abstract: A gasket for use with sanitary piping systems contains a receptacle for retaining an encapsulated bacterial test indicator. The receptacle has a length that permits the indicator end of the test indicator to be directly exposed to the sterilizing steam that is introduced into the piping system. The gasket is preferably installed at the sanitary flange of a short “bull” T-section of the stainless steel sanitary piping and secured thereto by a stainless steel cap. The stainless steel cap is recessed to accommodate as much of the test indicator length as may be required to position the indicator end of the test indicator in the central lumen of smaller pipe diameters.

  • Patent number: 6702638
Abstract: A method of shatterproofing a fluorescent lamp having a glass envelope by extruding a polymeric coating over the lamp envelope so that it intimately embraces substantially all of the external contours of the lamp, including its glass envelope and end-ferrules thereby increasing the hoop strength of the glass envelope. The lamp is passed through an air lock into the main lumen of a crosshead which extrudes a cylinder of hot plastic that is radially drawn inward toward the lumen axis by an applied vacuum. A continuous chain of encapsulated lamps emerges from the crosshead that then may be cut apart to reveal individually completely encapsulated lamps.

  • Patent number: 6452325
Abstract: A compact and portable docking station for a radio mobile personal digital assistant (PDA) carries a magnetic card reader and provides an interface that supplies drive power to the magnetic card reader independently of the PDA battery and translates signal levels provided from the card reader so that they can reliably be read by the PDA. PDA battery power is conserved by initiating all interface actions from a software generated “radio” button appearing on the screen of the PDA.

  • Patent number: 5772262
Abstract: A two-piece connector includes a collar having an aperture in its relatively thick end-wall which bears an internal annular groove. The skirt of the collar is adapted to be slipped over the end of a length of tubing and contains tines to graspingly engage the outer surface of the tubing. The barb portion of the connector is adapted to fit through the aperture in the end-wall to frictionally engage the lumen of the tubing. An interrupted flange at the upper portion of the barb is adapted to twistably engage the internal annular groove in the end-wall to securely lock the barb to the collar.
