  • Publication number: 20120090978
Abstract: A system for treating feedwater includes a fluidized bed heat exchanger unit connected to receive feedwater and a flash concentrator column connected to receive feedwater discharged from the fluidized bed heat exchanger unit. A spray dryer is provided to receive a solids/liquid slurry discharged from the flash concentrator column. Feedwater can be treated by converting dissolved solids in the feedwater to suspended solids, vaporizing a portion of the feedwater to produce a solids/liquid slurry, and separating solids from the solids/liquid slurry.

  • Patent number: 4356785
Abstract: The present invention relates to process modules designed for interconnection during shipment as well as installation. The process modules may be of a single deck design adapted to be stacked and transported on specially designed ships, as in LASH vessels, or the process modules may be of a design that is connectable to a specially designed ship as a part of the ship's hull. Fabrication of the process modules is performed at a shipyard facility. The completely fabricated modules are transportable in an assembled manner to a remote plant site aboard a LASH barge vessel or other special vessel where the modules are again assemblied either as a floating or land-based process plant installation.

  • Patent number: 4318780
Abstract: A multi-stage flash evaporator design wherein two flash evaporator stages are paired in tandem with each individual condenser tube bundle. The condenser tube bundle is enclosed in a housing that is partitioned to define two separate condenser chambers and the housing is also partitioned to define two cross-flow evaporator stages. The condenser tubes extend to opposite ends of the housing and each evaporator chamber has a width substantially equal to the full extent of the condenser tubes with the brine entry port extending the full width of such chamber; however, the vapor from each flash chamber is directed to only a portion (i.e. generally one-half) of the condenser bundle with the partitions maintaining each condenser portion generally sealed from the vapor of the adjacent evaporator chamber. An internal vent orifice directs the non-condensible vapors of the high temperature chamber into the low temperature chamber.
