Patent number: 8361582Abstract: A method for joining two or more substrates with a seam is provided. The seam is formed with a thermoplastic tape that is capable of forming an adhesive bond and a physical bond with a substrate. For instance, in one embodiment, the thermoplastic tape is formed from a polyurethane film. In addition, the seam can be utilized in a flat configuration or folded into a variety of different shapes, such as in a z-shaped configuration. As a result of the present invention, it has been discovered that a seam can be formed to have improved strength without substantially sacrificing the desired functional properties of the substrate materials.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Assignee: Clemson UniversityInventors: Christine W Jarvis, Robert E Bennett, Brian Frederick

Patent number: 5406172Abstract: A light source device having a controlled current source that maintains a constant intensity of light from the source during changes in light source temperature, particularly at warm-up. The light source is heated to speed up warm-up and to maintain constant temperature of the source during operation under varying ambient temperatures. Control of the current to the light source is determined by the temperature profile circuit with signals via a temperature signal conditioner from a temperature sensor proximate to the light source. Control of the heater is ultimately dictated by temperature sensor signals.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1993Date of Patent: April 11, 1995Assignee: Honeywell Inc.Inventor: Robert E. Bennett

Patent number: 5261749Abstract: Straw walker bearing having two bearing portions that are bolted together around a straw walker crank. The upper bearing portion is provided with mounting pads for mounting the straw walker pan to the bearing. Each bearing portion has a semi-cylindrical recess for accommodating the straw walker crank. Each bearing portion is provided with a first edge having a raised outer lip and a second edge having a raised inner lip. When the bearing portions are coupled to one another the edges adjoin and form a standard fit configuration or a tight fit configuration.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1992Date of Patent: November 16, 1993Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Robert E. Patent number: 5136952Abstract: An air bag explosive container device for use in inflating an air bag upon receipt of a sensor signal that indicates a collision. The container device includes a lower cylinder portion and an upper cap portion, threadedly connected together and enclosing a chamber for an explosive material. The lower cylinder portion and upper cap portion each consist of (a) carbon iron alloy base material and an outer protective oxide coating located thereon thereby providing both high strength and anticorrosion properties, ease of manufacture, and much lower cost of manufacture.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1990Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Assignee: John McDavidInventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4988326Abstract: A grid insert assembly for a concave of an agricultural threshing machine having a frame formed from two side walls that define a slot. The slot engaging a cross bar of the concave. Each side wall is provided with an engagement aperture. The engagement apertures are coaxial with a grid insert mounting aperture located on the concave cross bar. A U-shaped mounting pin, having an engagement leg is selectively positioned into and out of the slot through the engagement apertures for securing the grid insert to the concave cross bar. A mounting leg of the mounting pin is slidably positioned in mounting ears extending from the grid insert. A latching assembly for latching the mounting pin is formed by an elastomeric sleeve which engages the mounting leg of the mounting pin.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1990Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4875891Abstract: In an axial flow rotary separator, a separator grate forming part of a generally cylindrical separator casing consists of a series of circumferentially spaced, axially extending, finger bar assemblies. In each finger bar assembly side by side fingers extend circumferentially in the direction of rotation, supported cantilever fashion by an axially extending finger support bar. The fingers and support bar inner surfaces all lie approximately in a cylindrical surface but the radial offset of the free ends of the fingers relative to the following finger support bar, may be chosen or varied according to the crop handled and the grate characteristics desired. In a second embodiment a threshing concave of the same general structure is used in conjunction with a conventional rasp bar threshing cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1988Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Reed J. Turner, Loren W. Peters, John E. Wilson, Robert E. Bennett

Patent number: 4805640Abstract: A straw walker extension pan is mounted to the end of a straw walker trough by two nut and bolt assemblies that engage mounting holes located in the pan and mounting apertures located in the straw walker trough. The pan is further provided with downwardly and forwardly projecting tangs that engage mounting slots located in the straw walker trough.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1987Date of Patent: February 21, 1989Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4802496Abstract: An assembly for adjusting the spacing between a transverse threshing cylinder and a transverse concave. The adjustment assembly comprising a link pivotally mounted to the side of the combine and circular camming disc which is located in the link. The camming disc is provided with a sleeve which projects into the combine and which is operatively coupled to a transversely extending hexagonal shaft. The concave grips the sleeve and in response to rotation of the camming disc the spacing between the concave and the threshing cylinder is changed. The concave is pivotally coupled to the side sheet of the combine by a cylindrical bushing having a slot into which is inserted a loosely fitting retainer plate.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1987Date of Patent: February 7, 1989Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4710005Abstract: A flash or strobe light support for a camera having a pair of members connected together to form a handle, a lower bracket for connecting the handle to the base of the camera, and an upper bracket for supporting the strobe light on the upper end of the handle. One of the handle members has a tubular end with a slot. The end of the other handle member is received in the tubular end and is connected by a pivot member to the tubular member so as to be movable to a position at right angles of the tubular member by being pivoted into the slot and locked in position by the pivot member. The strobe light can thus be moved from an upper position above the camera to a position at right angles, depending upon the position the user wants to locate the light with respect to the subject being photographed.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1986Date of Patent: December 1, 1987Inventor: Robert E.
