  • Patent number: 8491044
Abstract: A system for storing cargo or other items within a vehicle enclosure having a plurality of walls is disclosed. In one aspect, the system for storing cargo comprises a plurality of support posts. In an additional aspect, each support post defines a plurality of U-shaped receiving channels. In a further aspect, the support posts can be selectively secured within the vehicle enclosure. In one aspect, the system comprises means for retaining the cargo within the vehicle enclosure. In an additional aspect, the means for retaining the cargo within the enclosure can be attached to the receiving channels of the support posts.

  • Patent number: 7377674
Abstract: An article carrier apparatus for a vehicle includes a cross rail interconnected to an exterior surface of the vehicle, a heat sink positioned within the cross rail, and a light source positioned within the cross rail. The light source is thermally connected to the heat sink such that the heat sink will absorb at least a portion of the heat generated by operation of the light source. The cross rail will structurally support an article attached to the exterior of a vehicle.

Inventors: Robert E. Burnham, Roy E. Bonnett
  • Patent number: 5044848
Abstract: Partition securement structure is provided in the cargo compartment of a pick-up truck. The cargo compartment has a pair of spaced apart longitudinal side walls with openings therein. Wire retainers are received in the openings. Each wire retainer has a U-shaped recess to receive and removably secure the edge of a partition in place. The retainers have a dual function, being also useful as rope tie-down loops.

  • Patent number: 4608492
Abstract: The present invention provides a photodosimeter for use by sunbathers and the like and which activates an alarm when a predetermined radiation dosage has been received by the user. The photodosimeter includes a photocell mounted within the housing and exposed to sunlight through a housing opening. This photocell generates an analog output signal proportional to the radiation which impinges upon the photocell. An A/D converter converts the analog signal to a digital signal which is connected to a microprocessor which periodically samples the output from the converter and updates a cumulative radiation dosage counter in memory. When the cumulative radiation dosage exceeds a user settable maximum an alarm is activated. The microprocessor is further programmed to test a plurality of electrical conditions of the photodosimeter and to activate the alarm by a fail safe conduit in the event that one or more conditions are unsatisfied.

  • Patent number: 4535244
Abstract: The present invention provides a photodosimeter for use by sunbathers and the like and which activates an alarm when a predetermined radiation dosage has been received by the user. The photodosimeter includes a photocell exposed to the sunlight and which provides an analog output signal to an analog to digital (A/D) converter proportional to the radiation which impinges upon the photocell. The A/D converter provides an output signal to a microprocessor which periodically samples the output from the A/D converter and maintains a count in memory proportional to the radiation exposure. This count is divided by the solar protection factor (SPF) of any sunscreen material which is applied to the user's skin and the SPF factor is inputted to the microprocessor via a keyboard. When the count in the counter exceeds a predetermined maximum, an alarm is activated warning the user that the maximum radiation exposure of the user has been reached.
