  • Publication number: 20010025697
Abstract: A method and apparatus for beginning the formation of a paper web on a traveling forming wire, or between a pair of converging forming wires, includes a headbox on a papermaking machine for projecting a stock stream onto the forming wire, or between the forming wires over the porous face surface of a forming shoe. The forming wire or wires are looped to travel in a continuous path, and within at least one of the looped forming wires is the forming shoe, which is porous by way of grooves or openings over at least a portion of its face surface. The grooves are in the surface of the forming shoe which engages the inner surface of the looped forming wire to define a portion of the path of travel of the forming wire adjacent the headbox from which the stock stream is projected onto, or between, the forming wire(s). The grooves extend in the surface facing the forming wire from a point downstream of the leading edge in the nose portion of the face surface of forming shoe in the direction of forming wire travel.

  • Patent number: 4586387
Abstract: A flight test aid comprising means to measure force that is applied by a pilot to the controls (7) of an aircraft to adjust the control surfaces while manoeuvering the aircraft which utilizes a plurality of sensors (5-6) supported in the interface between the control member (7) and the part of the pilot (1) operating the control and means (9) to record the force from the sensors (5-6) preferably through differencingmeans (21) to cancel pressure applied equally to the sensors (5-6). A typical example is a glove (1) with finger and palm sensors (5-6) connected to indicator means (9) preferably through a differencer (21).

  • Patent number: 3984035
Abstract: A closure unit for compressible containers and other types of fluid outlets wherein the container is provided with an extension having an opening leading from the container to the extension upon which the closure unit is supported. The closure unit is provided with a fixed stem centrally located of the extension and a separate flexible closed-end sleeve having a central opening through the closed end adapted to overlie the extended portion of the container and the stem, and to be axially movable relative to the stem. The sleeve is provided with a rigid outer side portion and an outer end portion of which at least a portion is provided with a predetermined amount of elasticity.
