    Abstract: A method and apparatus for disinfection/pasteurization of fluids. There is provided a mercury/gallium metal halide ultraviolet lamp enclosed within an ozone free metallic doped quartz envelope, an ozone free, metallic doped quartz enclosure for the lamp, an in-line stationary spiral or internal thread of single or multiple leads surrounding the enclosure, and a containment vessel having an inlet, an outlet and a chamber in fluid communication therewith defining a flow path for fluid to be disinfected/pasteurized. The lamp is operated at a wavelength range from about 100 nanometers to about 400 nanometers to introduce multiband ultraviolet radiation and minimal heat into the fluid with the enclosure preventing build up of ozone.

    Abstract: A sterilization method and apparatus wherein microorganisms are exposed to ultraviolet light characterized by providing and operating a mercury/gallium metal halide ultraviolet light source in a manner exposing the microorganisms to ultraviolet light and a gaseous titanium dioxide emitted from the source for an exposure time in the range from about 0.3 seconds to about 60 seconds and at an exposure distance in the range from about 0.25 inch to about 4.0 inches, the ultraviolet light being emitted through a wavelength range from about 175 nanometers to about 450 nanometers with the relative energy being in the range from equal to or greater than 1.3 to equal to or less than 250 microwatts/sq.cm./nanometer at one meter.

    Abstract: An implant adapted for use in attaching a prosthesis to a bone features a screw threaded section characterized in that the thread roots and crests are of curvilinear section, wherein the roots have a radius of curvature essentially equal to twice the radius of curvature of the crests; a thread block section connected to the threaded section; a transversely enlarged flange section connected to the thread block section and formed with drive/lock recesses for facilitating threading of the anchor; a guide section extending from the flange section in a direction away from the threaded section; and a mounting opening extending through the guide, flange and thread block sections and into the threaded section for mounting a prosthesis attachment.
