  • Patent number: 6201953
Abstract: A system for testing a communication satellite having multiple receiver channels (12), wherein a processor (20) normally used for other satellite functions is also used load and execute a testing module stored in an onboard memory (22). Under control of the testing module, a synthesizer (24) generates test signals and applies them through a controllable switch (30) to a selected receiver channel (12). The test signals are then analyzed by the processor (20) after passing through the selected receiver channel (12) under test. The analysis includes fast Fourier transform (FFT) processing to analyzed channel performance in the frequency domain. An additional feature of the invention allows multiple transmitter channels (46) to be analyzed in turn by a similar technique.

  • Patent number: 4256429
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for handling signature bundles. The apparatus includes an inverted U-shaped frame with legs rotatably carrying clamping pads. The frame has a fluid-operated ram thereon for moving one leg toward and away from the other. One clamping pad is connected to a driven sprocket engaged by a chain. The chain is connected to a drive sprocket mounted on a drive shaft of a motor which is mounted on the frame. The frame also has a locator plate to aid in centering the clamping pads with the signature bundles.

  • Patent number: 4247092
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for handling signature bundles. The apparatus is specifically designed to handle at least two signature bundles at once, including ones of different lengths. The apparatus includes a generally C-shaped frame with legs and a connecting frame member. One of the legs has a fluid-operated cylinder mounted thereon with a piston rod extending toward the other leg. A pivotable bar has an intermediate portion connected to an outer end of the piston rod and two clamping pads are pivotally connected to outer end portions of said pivotable bar. This arrangement enables the clamping pads to simultaneously clamp two signature bundles of different lengths between themselves and the other leg when the piston rod is moved toward the other leg. The apparatus is carried by a hoist bar having a hoist loop connected to a hoist by means of which the bundles can be raised and lowered as well as being moved about.
