Patent number: 11420445Abstract: A quick connect assembly includes a connector housing and fluid connectors that fluidly couple an ink assembly and a print assembly. The quick connect assembly also includes conductive connectors that conductively couple hardware circuitry in the ink assembly with hardware circuitry in the print assembly. First and second portions of the connector housing mate with each other to couple the fluid connectors and to couple the conductive connectors. The first and second housing portions mate with each other by rotating the first housing portion and/or the second housing portion relative to the other of the first housing portion and/or the second housing portion.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2020Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Keith Allen Bartel, Robert E. Gehrin

Patent number: 8876252Abstract: A solvent flushing apparatus comprises a plate that has an opening formed therein. The solvent flushing plate may be positioned relative to a fluid jet device so that the opening in the plate coincides with jet orifices of the jet device. The solvent flushing apparatus further comprises a conduit that is adapted to convey fluid therein. The conduit extends from proximate a first external side of the plate or body, and into the plate toward a second external side that is opposite the first external side. The conduit terminates at a conduit orifice that is spaced apart from the first external surface, faces the opening formed in the plate, and is directed toward, i.e., faces, at least in part, the orifices of the fluid jet device. A solvent fluid may be transported through the conduit and ejected from the orifice toward the plurality of orifices of the fluid jet device.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2012Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: Illinois Tool Works, Inc.Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 8100516Abstract: A device and method for storing pressure-regulated fluid for a printer is disclosed. The pistonless, pressure-regulated storage device for fluid has three main components: a sealing cap, a mounting base, and a flexible membrane positioned between the sealing cap and the mounting base. The sealing cap has an inlet and an outlet for fluid flow. A pressure sensing device is positioned to monitor the pressure in the fluid storage device. The mounting base has a chamber formed therein and the membrane is positioned over the chamber. The membrane is flexible and configured to conform to the shape of the chamber when the membrane retains fluid, such as ink, from a reservoir. The membrane accumulates fluid until a pressure sensor alerts the pump that the maximum capacity has been reached. When pressure within the storage device falls, such as when downstream demand for ink begins or increases, the pump is signaled to begin filling the storage device.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2008Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Robert E.
