    Abstract: A composition and method for use in a dental treatment, such as root canal. The composition eliminates the need for uncomfortable and time-consuming needle injections before application of prep composition. The composition is a mixture of a lubricant, a disinfecting agent, a chelating agent and an anesthetic, preferably articaine, and may also include epinephrine. A method for preparing an area of the patient's mouth for the dental treatment, such as a root canal, is achieved by preparing the disclosed composition and administering it to the area of the patient's mouth to be treated. The composition provides simultaneous antibacterial action and numbing action with a one-step application.
