    Abstract: The invention provides an imaging spectrometer that provides a wide field-of-view camera and spectrometer for spectral imaging of a large two-dimensional area of the Earth's surface from an orbiting satellite or airplane. The wide field-of-view camera fore-optics includes spherical optical elements arranged monocentrically. The spectrometer includes an all-reflective coupling design that transfers the curved optical image to one or more compact imaging spectrometers. The spectrometers preferably comprise a spherical convex holographic grating and associated reflective optics for dispersing a collimated optical beam into its spectral components and focusing the spectral image onto a planar detector array. The instrument described herein is designed to operate in a "pushbroom" fashion, that is, the forward motion of the satellite or airplane generates the spatial dimension of the resulting image.

    Abstract: The sun's energy is used in combination of movable and fixed diffuser plates, windows and apertures which are positioned in a series of test sequences (modes) for reflectance monitoring and calibration without the use of man-made sources. There are three embodiments, or implementations, of the invention--one embodiment uses two diffusers--a working diffuser and a secondary diffuser--the second embodiment uses three diffusers, a working diffuser, a secondary diffuser and a reference diffuser--and the third embodiment uses two diffusers--a working diffuser and a secondary diffuser, the latter also functioning as a cover for the working diffuser. The movable diffusers are mounted on rotatable cones and, in all embodiments, the sun is blocked from reaching the diffusers when not in use.

    Abstract: A floating/tensioned production system for use in deepwater drilling and production operations generally combining a relatively small tension leg platform with a semisubmersible platform. The semisubmersible platform is provided with a working deck supported above the water surface so that an air gap exists between the working deck and the water surface. The tension leg platform provides a heave-restrained production deck for near-surface wellhead equipment. The production deck is supported above the drill site but beneath the water surface by buoyancy members and held in place by one or more tethers. Most other drilling and production equipment is located on the semisubmersible working deck. A caisson, surrounding the production deck, is used to provide a substantially dry working area. In one embodiment, the caisson is retractably attached to the production deck.

    Abstract: An articulated riser including at least two framed structures comprised of a plurality of fluid-handling lines connected by multiple fluid-handling line flexible joints. The articulated riser of the present invention provides a system wherein fluid-handling lines may be connected between a structure on the subsea bottom and a floating vessel either for the production of crude oil and natural gas offshore, or for the operational functions before or after producing a subsea well, or any combination thereof. The articulated riser of the present invention may extend to a foundation structure situated on the subsea bottom or to an upright self-standing riser, providing a manifold for a plurality of fluid-handling lines to be connected to a floating vessel. Means may be provided for either partially or substantially totally providing buoyancy for the articulated riser.
