  • Patent number: 5147242
Abstract: A hazardous waste removal assembly includes a generally rectangular flexible bag having a front panel and a back panel joined at a lower portion of the bag to form a collection chamber. The bag is sealed such that it is impermeable to dust and other particulate matter. The assembly also includes at least one glove sleeve fashioned through the front panel of the bag to permit an operator to remove abestos from a segment of the enclosed conduit, while maintaining subatmospheric air pressure within the bag. A replacement air intake inlet valve is positioned on the front or back panel to permit the ingress of ambient air into the bag while concomitantly preventing egress of air or particulate contents out of the bag.

  • Patent number: 4421236
Abstract: The present invention relates to a carton which is adapted for packaging of contents which consist of granular, powdery or flaked products of the free-flowing type or of bulk commodities. The carton particularly relates to a linerless paperboard carton which includes an easily openable pouring spout which may be readily reclosed so as to maintain the carton in a positive closed condition after initial opening thereof and to thereby extend the pantry shelf-life of the package and to protect any product remaining in the carton from inadvertent spillage.

  • Patent number: 4215161
Abstract: Production of composites having increased strength, particularly at elevated temperature, heat resistance and ablative properties, while maintaining low weight, by a process which comprises impregnating fibrous reinforcement, such as a woven fabric of graphite yarns, with a resin, e.g., a phenolic resin, curing the resin to yield a fiber-resin composite, pyrolyzing such composite to convert the resin to a porous carbonaceous matrix, reimpregnating the porous fiber-carbon composite with additional resin, such as a phenolic resin, to fill the pores of the matrix, and curing the reimpregnating resin. The resulting fiber reinforcement-resin matrix-carbon matrix (i.e., bimatrix) composites are particularly useful and valuable as reinforced plastic aerospace components requiring strength at high temperatures and having improved ablative properties.
