    Abstract: Monofunctional polyfluorooxetane oligomers and polymers are prepared by the cationic polymerization of fluorooxetane monomers with a monoalcohol. The fluorooxetane oligomers or polymers can be copolymerized with generally cyclic ethers. Alternatively, the polyfluorooxetane oligomer or polymer having a single hydroxyl end group can be functionalized with a variety of compounds so as to yield a functional end group such as an acrylate, a methacrylate, an allylic, an amine, etc., with the functionalized oligomer or polymer being suitable for use in radiation curable or thermal curable coating compositions. These functionalized polymers can be copolymerized and cured to provide improvements in wetting and surface properties that have previously been provided by migratory chemicals such as waxes and oils.

The substrate may be printed or embossed or both. The coated substrate has both stain resistant properties and dry erase properties with dry erase markers. The coated substrate can be used as prepared or applied to other substrates.

    Abstract: In the preparation of thermoplastic elastomers by hydrosilylation crosslinking of the elastomeric component, the use of an elastomer containing a non-conjugated diene and having a Mooney viscosity within the MST range of 45 to 100 provides products with a high level of crosslinking and an improved combination of physical properties. This improvement is obtained even at low concentrations of hydrosilylation catalyst.

    Abstract: An improved process for the preparation of thermoplastic elastomers by hydrosilylation crosslinking of a butyl rubber component, in which a platinum containing hydrosilylation catalyst is used. The butyl rubber component includes a copolymer of at least isobutylene and an aromatic divinyl compound such as divinylbenzene. The copolymer of at least isobutylene and divinylbenzene is significantly easier to crosslink into a substantially insoluble rubber in a thermoplastic vulcanizate than isobutylene copolymers with only unsaturated repeating units from conjugated dienes. A crosslinked rubber component is obtained in the thermoplastic elastomer composition.

    Abstract: An improved process for the preparation of thermoplastic vulcanizates from butyl rubbers by hydrosilylation crosslinking of acrylic or alkacrylic functionalized copolymers of isobutylene and paramethylstyrene is disclosed. The functionalization results in lower compression and tension set than when using conventional butyl rubbers. Other physical properties of the thermoplastic vulcanizate are improved consistent with more efficient crosslinking of the functionalized copolymer.

    Abstract: Phenolic resin curatives having a majority of dibenzyl ether linkages were unexpectedly found to be very effective in curing unsaturated rubbers in a blend of a crystalline polyolefin and said rubber. Their effectiveness exceeds that of conventional phenolic resins for many thermoplastic vulcanizate compositions allowing for the reformulation of the recipes with lower amounts of curatives and equivalent or superior physical properties in the resulting thermoplastic vulcanizate.
