  • Patent number: 6698726
Abstract: A fence rail clip for attaching a fence rail to a vertical fence post is disclosed. The rail clip has a bracket and a rail connector. The bracket may be secured to the vertical post. The rail connector has a rail receiving receptacle into which an end of a rail may be inserted and the connector is adapted to slidingly engage the bracket. When the position of the rail connector is altered by sliding the rail connector along the bracket, the angle of the rail receiving receptacle is altered, thereby changing the angle at which a rail may be attached to the post.

  • Publication number: 20030221385
Abstract: A post mount for affixing a construction member having a cavity to a floor includes a support block, an adjustment plate, a plurality of adjustment bolts threadably mounted to the adjustment plate, a bearing plate, a plurality of optional compression pins, a clamping plate, a bolt extending therethrough, and a nut connected to the bolt. The support block is fixedly attached to the floor and is slidingly received in the cavity. The post mount securely affixes the post to the floor and permits the post to be oriented plumb with the vertical direction and provides support to allow the post to withstand moderate shock loading to the lower end thereof.

  • Publication number: 20030136955
Abstract: A fence rail clip for attaching a fence rail to a vertical fence post is disclosed. The rail clip has a bracket with a raised central area flanked by two lower lateral areas and a rail connector that, vertically or horizontally, slidingly engages the central area of the bracket. The lateral areas define locations for connecting the bracket to a vertical post. The rail connector has a rail receiving receptacle into which an end of a rail may be inserted. The bracket may include indicia for determining the correct position of attachment of the rail connector to the bracket. When the position of the rail connector is altered by sliding the rail connector relative to the bracket, the angle of the rail receiving receptacle is altered, thereby changing the angle at which a rail may be attached to the post.

  • Patent number: 6484459
Abstract: Counter pressure methods and apparatus for protecting roofs are described, which ensure that indoor air pressure remains negative, that is lower than ambient outdoor pressure during severe windstorms, thus counteracting and thereby reducing the uplift force on the roof surface of a building. In accordance with different embodiments of the invention, one-way valves are provided in openings in the building envelope, such as window openings, or installed over the vents into the roof space so that indoor air flows freely out of the building to a lee zone through the one-way valves while the high air pressure on the windward sides can cause little inward flow because the one-way valves quickly blow closed under wind pressure. According to a further embodiment a Venturi-tube is mounted vertically through or alongside the roof so that its open top forms its own low pressure suction area to draw air from either or both the indoors or the roof space to the same effect.

  • Patent number: 6427392
Abstract: The invention comprises the insertion of anchors into suitably located wall cavities, each anchor being suspended by cables extending up through the wall top and into the roof space; then making fast each anchor by the injection into the cavity above the anchor of a hardening, adhering liquid “plug” of sufficient size and strength, pressing down upon the anchor and strongly adhering to the confining internal surfaces of the cavity. Especially in cases where there are no wall cavities, or none readily accessible, the invention encompasses anchoring the roof to or through the exterior surfaces of suitably located walls by means of long vertical straps; these extend up through the ceiling sufficiently into the roof space, taking the place of the cavity anchors and cables.

  • Patent number: 6141928

The support block is fixedly attached to the floor and is slidingly received in the cavity. The post mount securely affixes the post to the floor and permits the post to be oriented plumb with the vertical direction and provides support to allow the post to withstand moderate shock loading to the lower end thereof. A second embodiment of the present invention is attached to a floor that has an inaccessible underside, such as a concrete floor.

  • Patent number: 6135425
Abstract: A fence connector for interlocking pickets to cross supports to define sections of fence and for interlocking these fence sections to posts. The fence connector using retractable arms that retract for insertion into a hole and then deflect back to an expanded position upon full insertion resulting in a secure, snug connection. The fence connector including a stop for preventing axial movement of the connector upon insertion into a fence rail. A thin flexible piece of hinge may extend between and hinged interconnect an outer end of adjacent retractable arms.

  • Patent number: 5788224
Abstract: A fence rail clip attaches a fence rail perpendicularly to a fence post and includes a oval-shaped base which mounts to the fence post and a locking bracket which receives an end of the fence rail and interlocks with the base. The base has a tapered edge which is angled inwardly from front to rear and two counter bored holes formed therein for receiving a pair of screws. The locking bracket has a generally U-shaped panel with an outwardly extending peripheral wall, and has a similar shape to that of the cross-sectional shape of the fence rail. A channel is formed between a pair of spaced legs of the U-shaped panel and includes a narrow bottle-neck section formed between an oval-shaped section which is complementary in shape to a rear of the base and an outwardly angled bottom section which guides the bracket over the base. An outer edge of the channel is tapered inwardly from a front to a rear of the locking bracket in a complementary relationship to the tapered edge of the base.
