  • Publication number: 20040201610
Abstract: A multimedia player parses a presentation script for delivering to a user a presentation that is comprised of a video, slides and tangential content. Each slide is associated to part of the tangential content and to a specific playback time or frame within the video. The presentation script describes the relationships among the video, the tangential content and the slides. The multimedia player has a presentation control unit which provides the graphical user interface for displaying the video and the slides, and for allowing the user to manipulate the presentation. The player allows the user to select one of the slides to access the tangential content which has been associated to the slide according to the presentation script. In another embodiment, a presentation authoring tool allows a user to generate a presentation script describing the relationships among a video, a set of slides, and a set of tangential content.

  • Publication number: 20030001904
Abstract: A tool for generating a standardized multimedia presentation is disclosed as well as a viewer for presenting such a presentation. The tool assists a developer in setting up a number of categories for the presentation, each of which has a number of subcategories. For each subcategory, content files are associated. If the content file is a video, then a module can assist the developer in associating tangential content which will be displayed to the end user at pre-set points during the playing of the video. After the presentation is built, the end user can view the presentation. It is presented to the user through a graphical user interface in the form of a three-dimensional geometric object, such as a 3-by-3 cube. The end user can choose any topic from the cubes and then choose any subtopic. The associated content (and perhaps tangential content) is then presented to the end user. The user can freely browse from among the categories and subcategories.

  • Patent number: 6387974
Abstract: Macroporous polymers having selected porosity and permeability characteristics that provide rigid polymer matrices suitable for use in medium and high pressure reversed phase liquid chromatography (RPC) are disclosed. A method for preparing the polymers using selected mixed porogens in selected proportions relative to the monomer phase is also disclosed. The polymers are especially useful as stationary phases in large scale chromatography columns without developing increased pressures during prolonged use, while maintaining good chromatographic performance for targeted biomolecules, such as insulin.

  • Patent number: 5500405
Abstract: This invention pertains to phosphosulfonates, having the general formula ##STR1## wherein Y is phenyl, naphthyl, benzyl, a (C.sub.5 -C.sub.8)cycloalkyl, a 5-membered heteroaromatic ring, a 6-membered heteraromatic ring, a fused 5,6-membered heteroaromatic ring, or a fused 6,6-membered heteroaromatic ring; andX is oxygen or sulfur; andR.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently selected from substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy, haloalkoxy, cyanoalkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy, cycloalkyloxy, cycloalkylalkoxy, alkylideneiminooxy, chloro, amino, phenyl or phenoxy; or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are both alkoxy, taken together with the phosphorus atom to form a 6-membered oxygen-containing ring; compositions containing these compounds and their use as herbicides.
