  • Publication number: 20080083348
Abstract: A dual-chamber package for the constituent materials for preparing an alginate dental impression paste includes a first chamber containing a pre-measured volume of water, and a second chamber, attached to and isolated from, the first chamber, and containing a pre-measured quantity of alginate powder, wherein the quantity of powder and the volume of water are in a pre-determined ratio for making a dental impression paste when mixed together. The powder and the water may be mixed outside of the package by dispensing the water and the powder respectively from the first and second chambers. Alternatively, the powder and water may be mixed within the second chamber by breaching a barrier between the first and second chambers to allow water to flow from the first chamber into the second chamber, after which the alginate dental impression paste is dispensed from the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 6783604
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning removable oral appliances, such as tooth repositioning aligners, comprise a base having a tray for holding the appliance in a bath of cleaning solution. A low-frequency driver is provided in the base for reciprocating the tray about a horizontal or vertical axis to wash the cleaning solution over the appliance. Usually, the apparatus will further comprise a cradle which is mounted to reciprocate about a horizontal axis within the base. The cradle defines a receptacle which removably receives the cleaning tray. The cleaning tray is preferably reciprocated at frequency in the range from 1 Hz to 10 Hz, usually in the range from 2 Hz to 5 Hz.

  • Publication number: 20020192617
Abstract: Traditional orthodontic treatment often involves the use of basic repositioning devices, such as braces, and the use of supplementary devices, components or accessories to achieve desired end results. Such components may be mounted on fixed, non-removable devices or they may be part of a removable appliance typically worn prior to the application of the fixed devices. As with traditional treatment, it may be desired to utilize similar components when repositioning teeth with removable elastic repositioning appliances. Due to the nature of elastic appliances, such components may take a variety of forms ranging from readily available traditional accessories to specially created devices. Thus, traditional components may be mounted on or embedded in an elastic appliance, or the appliance may be formed to provide similar components. Likewise, the appliance may be modified to provide additional features for specific orthodontic treatments.

  • Patent number: 5680876
Abstract: Dental floss brushes, as described herein, are extremely difficult to coat with wax coatings. When conventional waxes are utilized, the floss brush becomes matted and gummy. We have developed an improved wax coating solution which results in a thin, uniform coating with good adhesion characteristics. This invention relates to an improved floss brash product and to a novel process for its manufacture. In particular this invention is directed to an improved floss brash made of a textured, high tenacity nylon yarn which provides the scraping functions of a floss under high tension and the brushing functions of a yarn under low tension. The present yarns require a wax coating to improve lubricity during use. The present product exhibits a uniform, thin wax coating. The present process imparts a thin coating by utilizing a "viscosity lowering agent" in the wax coating solution.
