Patent number: 12141752Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for routing radio-frequency identification (RFID) location data from an RFID tag reader to a record-keeping unit. A first tagging entry is received from a first record-keeping unit. The information associated with the first tagging entry is stored in a data store. A first set of location data is received, indicating that the RFID tag of the first item has been read by an RFID tag reader. It is algorithmically determined that the received location data corresponds to the first tagging entry received from the first record-keeping unit. The first set of location data is communicated to the first record-keeping unit.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2023Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: Cerner Innovation, Inc.Inventors: Sameer Bhatia, Robert E. Patent number: 9600876Abstract: Systems for enabling automated electronic processing of tissue samples are provided. A tissue sample intake mechanism receives a tissue sample that is to be processed, and a cutting mechanism cuts the tissue sample to produce a plurality of sections of the tissue sample. Further, a transporting mechanism causes the tissue sections to be moved from a first location to a second location without user intervention. One or more image capturing devices that capture electronic images of the each of the plurality of sections of the tissue sample are also provided in the system. Additionally, a three-dimensional representation engine is provided for generating a three-dimensional representation of the tissue sample. The three-dimensional representation enables viewing of the electronic images associated with the each of the plurality of sections of the tissue sample.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2014Date of Patent: March 21, 2017Assignee: Cerner Innovation, Inc.Inventors: Robert E. Whited, John David L. Nolen, Sameer Bhatia

Patent number: 9488552Abstract: An apparatus is provided for cutting a tissue sample into a plurality of sections for automated tissue sample processing. The apparatus comprises a cutting mechanism and a holding mechanism. The cutting mechanism comprises a blade having a first reference line that extends from an attachment point of the blade to a rotation mechanism to an outermost point of the blade, and the rotation mechanism having a second reference line that extends from an axis point of the rotation mechanism to the attachment point, wherein the blade rotates around the axis point. The holding mechanism causes the tissue sample to remain stationary while the blade makes, at least, a first rotation around the axis point, resulting in a first tissue section cut from the tissue sample.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2014Date of Patent: November 8, 2016Assignee: Cerner Innovation, Inc.Inventors: Robert E. Whited, John David L. Nolen, Sameer Bhatia

Patent number: 9336593Abstract: Methods are provided for performing automated digital processing of a tissue sample. A tissue sample that is to be processed to produce a three-dimensional representation of the tissue sample is received, and is aligned with a cutting mechanism that comprises a blade. A plurality of sections of the tissue sample are produced by way of a rotating blade. The sections are moved from a first location to a second location on a surface of a transporting mechanism. During this move, electronic images of the each of the sections are captured using image capturing devices. The images for the each of the sections are compiled to generate a composite image for the each of the plurality of sections. The composite images are used to generate the three-dimensional representation of the tissue sample.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2014Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Assignee: Cerner Innovation, Inc.Inventors: Robert E. Publication number: 20130333266Abstract: An augmented sight and sensing system that allows both improved pointing accuracy and improved detail of sensing information through a plurality of means that superimposes situation-relevant information on a target image in a manner that allows a composite image, with or without additional sensed information, to be detected at one or more subsequent sensory locations or devices. The system includes beam-splitting means to divide incoming light beams from a target image into two separate beams, one beam that may be collected by a first sensor (such as seen by an observer's eye or alternate sensor such as a camera) and the other collected by a second imaging sensor or module, and means to generate and superimpose information (such as a reticle) on the target image seen by both, and means to collect and transmit the composite image and information.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2013Publication date: December 19, 2013Inventors: Bradley H. Patent number: 7477836Abstract: A tankless water heater includes a sensitive flow sensor that has a magnetic sensor and a plunger with an imbedded magnet. The plunger is configured to lift in a direction of the magnetic sensor in response to the flow of water thereby changing the state of an output of the sensitive flow sensor. There are electric water heating elements situated within water heating chambers. The sensitive flow sensor and the water heating chambers are fluidly connected in series between a supply of water and at least one hot water spigot. In response to the flow of water, a change of the output of the sensitive flow sensor energizes the electric water heating elements, thereby heating the water.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2006Date of Patent: January 13, 2009Assignee: Dolphin Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 5154662Abstract: A crab extractor including opposed, large cylindrical rollers oriented in vertically superimposed relation with the lower roller being perforated. Cleaned, uncooked crabs which have been broken along a longitudinal center line from front to rear along the bottom are fed between the rollers with the feelers first by a belt conveyor. The rollers are driven which forces crab meat through the perforations or holes in the bottom roller which is scraped off by a doctor blade into an ager which conveys the extracted meat to a point of discharge. The shell components of the crab are not forced through the perforations and are scraped off of both rollers by doctor blades onto a conveyor. The rollers are interconnected by large meshing gears at one end thereof in order to rotate both rollers at the same speed in opposite directions. The lower roller is driven which in turn drives the upper roller and the auger which conveys the extracted meat from interiorally of the bottom roller is independently powered.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1991Date of Patent: October 13, 1992Inventors: Thomas A.
