  • Patent number: 4711235
Abstract: An intravaginal contraceptive device formed of a ring having a central sheet of resilient impermeable material sandwiched between two layers of foam rubber. The foam rubber traps sperm and bacteria in a vaginal recess for a time sufficient to be destoyed by the normal acid pH of the vaginal secretions. The ring defines the sheet material into a cup-shape with four sides, one pair of opposing sides including a wire core inwardly bent and another pair of sides with one outwardly rounded and the other having a fork configuration. A normally closed flap valve is formed in the sheet with an attached extension for opening the flap.

  • Patent number: 4438640
Abstract: A door brace is disclosed adapted to interengage a door and a floor beneath the door and prevent unauthorized entry through the door. The brace comprises sections interconnected substantially end-to-end and collapsible with respect to each other into a compact form. One end section of the prop member has means adapted to engage the door, while the other end section has pivotally mounted base means adapted to engage the floor. Optionally, the prop member has lock means adapted to extend from the prop member to an exterior side of the door where the lock means is operable for locking or unlocking. The prop member may also have pressure-sensitive means adapted to signal a warning upon pressure upon the prop member due to unauthorized attempt to open the door.

  • Patent number: 4256097
Abstract: An orthopedic apparatus to be worn by a person such as an athlete, trauma victim or surgical patient, to protect and supplement the function of a bone joint. The apparatus comprises a first support member adapted to be placed on one lateral aspect of an appendage above the bone joint to be treated. A first rigid arm extends from the first support member and terminates in a male member adjacent the bone joint. A second support member is placed on the same lateral aspect of the appendage as the first support member and positioned below the bone joint to be treated. A second rigid arm extends upwardly from the second support member and terminates in a female member at a point adjacent the bone joint to be treated, such that the male and female members cooperate to form a ball and socket joint. The support members are secured to the appendage so that the ball and socket joint remains adjacent the bone joint to protect and supplement the function of the bone joint.
