Patent number: 6188836Abstract: A portable radiant heater comprises an electrically energized heating element extending along a vertical axis. A first, multi-faceted, concave reflective surface is positioned to the rear of the heating element. A second reflector is positioned forward of and in close proximity to the heating element. The first reflector directs radiant energy received directly from the heating element and indirectly from the second reflector forward with minimal radial dispersion.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1999Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: Appliance Development CorporationInventors: Dov Z. Glucksman, Karl H. Weidemann, Robert E. Wolfe

Patent number: 5761377Abstract: A portable heater providing both radiant and forced air heat includes a plurality of vertically oriented, horizontally spaced apart quartz heating tubes is partially surrounded by a common reflector configured to open at an obtuse angle at each quartz tube. The reflector is perforated to allow air to pass out from the interior of the heater. A housing surrounds the reflector and heating elements. A fan located toward the top of the heater draws air inward and down the channels behind the reflector from which it emerges past the heating elements. Control knobs for controlling a thermostat and output power level are located at the top surface of the housing. The heater also has automatic safety controls for shutting off power in the event the heater tips over or overheats, and an overcurrent device.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1996Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: Holmes Products CorporationInventors: Robert E. Wolfe, Johnson Hsu, Dov Z. Glucksman, Karl Weidemann

Patent number: 5613833Abstract: A support particularly adapted to support an electric fan is provided. The support has a cam action quick release mechanism which is movable between locked and free positions. When the release mechanism is in the free position the fan can be easily rotated to a desired degree of tilt about a horizontal axis. When the release mechanism is in the locked position rotation of the fan is prevented. The support also includes tilt limiting mechanisms which sets a predetermined forward and backward limitation on fan rotation.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1995Date of Patent: March 25, 1997Assignee: Holmes Products Corp.Inventors: Robert E. Wolfe, Johnson Hsu

Patent number: 5045659Abstract: A disposable container for heating seeds, kernels, nuts, grains, popcorn or the like items, using microwave radiation. The container comprises a can-shaped package having a floor where the items are placed and held in a clump. As the items are heated with microwave radiation, the items pop, the cover panel and/or container walls expand to form a new shape wherein the walls are inclined toward the floor. As the items pop, the unpopped items continue to be directed into a clump. Alternatively, a ferrite and metal material may be placed on the floor to enhance the heating process.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1989Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Robert E. Wolfe, John S. Sklenak

Patent number: 5007254Abstract: A clothes washing machine including a cabinet having therein a spin tub rotatably disposed within a stationary drain tub, and an additive liquid dispensing system comprised of a multi-load reservoir of additive liquid connected hydraulically through a pump to a liquid ejector nozzle. The reservoir comprises a liquid-tight housing which is vertically elongated and has a triangular cross-sectional shape for fitting into an elongated corner portion of the cabinet adjacent a front defining wall thereof. A side of the housing adjacent the front defining wall has a vertically elongated transparent portion disposed coextensively in alignment with a vertically elongated window in the front defining wall of the cabinet. The transparent portion of the housing may comprise a vertically extending tubular member disposed in communication with additive liquid in the housing such that the level of liquid in the tubular member is an indication of the level of liquid in the housing.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1990Date of Patent: April 16, 1991Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Robert E. Wolfe, Ronald A. Goyette

Patent number: 4938831Abstract: Novel systems for bonding a polyarylate substrate to another polyarylate substrate or to a polycarbonate substrate, at least one of the substrates being transparent, employing a visible light curable adhesive composition consisting essentially of:(1) at least one member of the group consisting of monofunctional acrylic monomers, polyfunctional acrylic monomers, and polyfunctional polyester acrylate oligomers;(2) N-vinyl pyrrolidone;(3) at least one low molecular weight aliphatic urethane acrylate polymer; and(4) a catalyst or photoinitiator activatable by visible light. The invention is particularly directed to the bonding of component parts of automotive headlamp assemblies, at least one component of which comprises a polyarylate.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1988Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Assignee: The Kendall CompanyInventor: Robert E. Wolf, Jr.

Patent number: 4814571Abstract: A microwave oven adapted for under-counter use that eliminates many of the disadvantages of prior microwave ovens. A bottom member and transparent canopy shaped top member or cover from a microwave conductive cavity viewable from three or more sides. The bottom and top members may be hinged or slidably connected to provide maximum cavity access for food insertion. By mounting the oven on slides in a kitchen cabinet, drawer, or appliance enclosure, the oven is kept out of sight and out of the way when not in use but quickly available when needed. Lighting, venting, and viewing of the cavity and its contents is simpler, safer, easy and efficient.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1988Date of Patent: March 21, 1989Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Robert F. Bowen, Robert E. Wolfe, Kenneth W. Dudley
