  • Patent number: 7203306
Abstract: A cost-effective technique for inserting a switching module into a line pair of a local telecommunications network is disclosed. In particular, the illustrative embodiment does not replace a punch-down block at a cross-connect, but rather inserts the switching module between the modular connectors that are usually co-located with the punch-down block and that connect the cable pairs to the punch-down block. In other words, the illustrative embodiment provides for a technician to disconnect a pair of modular connectors and to insert a switching module between them, wherein the switching modules inputs and outputs are provided via modular connectors.

  • Publication number: 20070031043
Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to intelligently directed segmentation analysis for automated microscope systems. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes obtaining an image of at least a portion of a scan region including a biological specimen, partitioning the obtained image into zelles, determining one or more parameters of the zelles, performing a cluster analysis on the one or more parameters of the zelles, differentiating tissue of greater interest from tissue of lesser interest in the obtained image based on the cluster analysis and based on a test being performed for the biological specimen, and storing more information for the tissue of greater interest than information for the tissue of lesser interest. The cluster analysis can be a multivariate statistical cluster analysis, and the zelles can be test-dependent zelles (e.g., having dimensions defined according to the test being performed for the biological specimen).

  • Patent number: 7020861
Abstract: A method of designing an integrated circuit including executing a placement algorithm to place a set of objects within the integrated circuit. The set of objects includes latched objects and non-latched objects. The algorithm places objects to minimize clock signal delay subject to a constraint on the placement distribution of the latched objects relative to the placement distribution of the non-latched objects. The latched object and non-latched object placement constraints may limit the difference between the latched object center of mass and a non-latched object center of mass. The latched object center of mass equals a sum of size-location products for each latched object divided by the sum of sizes for each latched object. The constraints may require that the latched object center of mass and the non-latched center of mass both equal the center of mass for all objects.

  • Publication number: 20050283093
Abstract: The invention is a self-venting blood collection needle assembly for the extraction of at least one fluid sample into an evacuated container for laboratory testing, this blood collection needle assembly providing a clear or translucent flashback chamber for blood to flow into, for visualization by the user to confirm successful vein entry. The self-venting mechanism permits escape of air during use, and which, typically, also prevents an outflow of fluid, such as blood. Thus, air under venous pressure will be allowed to escape from the blood collection needle assembly until blood reaches the venting mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20050259480
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention enable debugging functionality for memory devices residing on a memory module that are buffered from the memory bus by a buffer chip. Some embodiments map connector signals from a tester coupled to the high speed interface between the buffer chip and the memory bus to an interface between the buffer chip and the memory devices. During test mode, some embodiments bypass the normal operational circuitry of the buffer chip and provide a direct connection to the memory devices. Other embodiments use the existing architecture of the buffer chip to convert high speed pins into low speed pins and map them to pins that are connected to the memory devices. Other embodiments are described in the claims.
