  • Publication number: 20150205055
Abstract: A fiber optic assembly includes a connector and a cover bonded to an end face of the connector. The connector includes a ferrule, where an optical fiber extends through the ferrule and to the end face of the connector. An end of the optical fiber is polished proximate to the end face. The cover is bonded directly to the end face of the connector, and overlays the polished end of the optical fiber such that the cover protects the optical fiber, limits access of dust to the end face of the connector, and draws loose particulates from the end face upon removal of the cover.

  • Publication number: 20150063759
Abstract: A fiber optic assembly includes a connector and a cover received over an end face of the connector. The connector includes a ferrule through which an optical fiber extends to the end face of the connector. An end of the optical fiber is polished proximate to the end face. The cover the cover includes a rigid end cap and a form-fitting material within the end cap overlaying the polished end of the optical fiber. The cover is configured to limit access of particulates to the end face of the connector and draw loose particulates of dust and debris from the end face of the connector upon removal from the connector.

  • Publication number: 20140241670
Abstract: A female hardened fiber optic connector for terminating an end of a fiber optic cable that is suitable for making an optical connection with another hardened cable assembly and cable assemblies using the same are disclosed. The female hardened fiber optic connector includes a connector assembly, a crimp body, a connector sleeve, and female coupling housing. The connector sleeve has one or more orientation features that cooperate with one or more orientation features inside the female coupling housing. The crimp body has a first shell and a second shell for securing the connector assembly at a front end of the shells and a cable attachment region rearward of the front end for securing a cable.

  • Publication number: 20140219621
Abstract: A fiber optic multiport includes a housing, a multi-fiber connector coupled to the housing, a plurality of optical fibers, extensions, and ports connected to distal ends of the extensions. The housing defines an enclosure and includes interlocking structure that seals off the enclosure from the environment. The plurality of optical fibers are connected to and extend from the multi-fiber connector into the enclosure. The extensions have proximal ends attached to the housing and the extensions project away from the housing. The extensions support sub-sets of the plurality of optical fibers, and the extensions are flexible such that the extensions may bend independently of one another.

Abstract: A female hardened fiber optic connector for terminating an end of a fiber optic cable that is suitable for making an optical connection with another hardened cable assembly and cable assemblies using the same are disclosed. The female hardened fiber optic connector includes a connector assembly, a crimp body, and a shroud. The crimp body has a first shell and a second shell for securing the connector assembly at a front end of the shells and a cable attachment region rearward of the front end for securing a cable. The crimp body fits within the shroud and is secured within the shroud using a locking feature disposed on a rim area of the shroud. The female hardened connector may further include a receptacle having a non-hardened receptacle port and a hardened receptacle port, where alignment fingers of the female hardened connector fit into distinct openings on the non-hardened receptacle port side.
