Abstract: A vehicle seat has a backrest, a headrest, and at least a shelf arranged on a rear side of the backrest to be foldable between a substantially vertical closed position and a substantially horizontal position of use. A first foldable shelf with a first axis of rotation is integrated into the rear side of the seat. A rectangular, foldable holding frame with a second axis of rotation arranged at a distance from the first axis of rotation is arranged to surround the first foldable shelf in its closed position in the rear side of the vehicle seat with the rectangular foldable holding frame. The first and second axes of rotation are arranged to be oriented substantially horizontally and in a plane of the rear side of the vehicle seat. At least one shelf is formed in the headrest and, in its position of use, exposes the storage compartment opening.
