    Abstract: A latching system for locking in the closed position movable elements such as doors and drawers mounted in cabinet frames for movement between open and closed positions in which a latch element is attached to the cabinet frame and is provided with a cantilevered portion having an aperture therein which engages a pin in the movable element to releasably lock the movable element in the closed position against randomly applied forces such as earthquake generated forces and the like.
