  • Patent number: 4385220
Abstract: A dynamoelectric machine in the form of an induction motor includes a pair of end shields for supporting a rotor assembly. At least one of the end shields is a die cast structure having a channel formed in it. The channel is sized to receive a protector for the motor. A bracket utilized in conjunction with the motor includes a spring for biasing the protector within the channel, and a mounting surface to which an external electrical switch is mounted. The bracket includes a pair of arms arranged to permit mounting of the bracket on the induction motor side of the end shield. Consequently, dimensional variations caused by end shield design or manufacture are eliminated and the effect of those dimensional variations on switch/actuator performance no longer is significant.

  • Patent number: 4362342
Abstract: A bearing closure assembly for a dynamoelectric machine (e.g., a fractional horsepower motor) is provided which reduces bearing contamination from both airborne dirt and water and which reduces subsequent bearing failure, but which permits increased manufacturing tolerances thus lowering costs. The assembly includes a surface (e.g., a wall) perpendicular to the shaft of the motor having a central opening in it for passage of the shaft. The shaft opening through the surface is defined by a flange integrally formed with the surface. The flange extends axially of the shaft for a substantially greater distance or dimension than the radial clearance between of the shaft and the flange. The closure assembly is also adapted to function as a keeper for a mounting hub ring which in turn enables the dynamoelectric machine to be intermounted to its intended application.

  • Patent number: 4309062
Abstract: A self-aligning bearing is provided with an axial thrust movement preventing system along at least one bearing support structure. The system controls end play within an acceptable range without excessive frictional losses and enables the bearing to withstand considerable axial impact with no function impairment. In the preferred embodiment, the system includes a retaining ring mounted to a shaft supported by a self-aligning bearing. A thrust sleeve is mounted axially inboard of the retaining ring and is interconnectable with the ring. The thrust sleeve is positioned axially outboard of the self-aligning bearing and engages the bearing support structure when axially inward loads are imposed on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4124238
Abstract: This invention relates to a door lock, and particularly to a lock whose latch bolt extends beyond what is considered normal extension for a door lock. This invented lock not only fastens the door closed, but it also has a second function; namely, to act as a dead lock.

  • Patent number: 4063580
Abstract: A mechanism which holds a fastener's head in a non-slipping position and in which the shaft of the said mechanism is the driving force which rotates the said fastener in either a counterclockwise or a clockwise direction. In the field of mechanics, when screwing a screw into wood or other types of material, the screw driver being used for the said screwing has a tendency to slip from the screw-head of the screw being screwed, either slipping to one side or to the other. It then usually becomes the chore of the workman governing the driving or screwing to keep control over the holding of the said screw driver in proper contact with the head of the screw, and at the same time, the said workman must keep control of the upright position of the said screw with the material into which the screw is to be inserted.

  • Patent number: 3977803
Abstract: A process for developing surfaces to determined elevations upon sound surfaces, whether or not these said sound surfaces are level or regular, said development to be done by the use of pre-set points and pre-set screeds, used either alone or in conjunction with one another, formed upon the said sound surfaces, which pre-set points and pre-set screeds become part of the new surfaces being developed.
