  • Patent number: 4516737
Abstract: A storage reel (10, 10') particularly adapted for winding bandoliered, axially leaded, tubular components thereon, such as capacitors (18), includes a core (12, 12') formed with a uniquely configured peripheral relief (32, 44, 46). The relief, in accordance with one preferred embodiment (32), has a concave base, and is dimensioned to accommodate the lower half body portions of a predetermined number of bandoliered, forward end capacitors (18), when wound as part of the first wrap of such components on the core, via a pair of laterally spaced lead-supporting tape carriers (26, 27). The relief is centrally located on the core so as to define on each side thereof a circumferentially displaced, lead-supporting peripheral core border region (12a or b).

  • Patent number: 4214353
Abstract: A pair of pointed terminals are heated and forced through opposed side walls of an open-ended box constructed of thermoplastic material. A rolled film capacitor blank having heat fusible end electrodes is moved into the box to deflect the terminals so that the terminals are forced into firm engagement with the end electrodes. The heated terminals are effective to soften or melt the engaged portions of the electrodes to bond the terminals to the capacitor blank.

  • Patent number: 4205365
Abstract: A rolled metallized film capacitor is terminated with bimetallic terminals. A method of manufacture of this terminated capacitor contemplates inserting a capacitor blank with heat fusible end electrodes in a plastic box to position the electrodes between a pair of "L" shaped bimetallic terminals constructed of laminations of materials having different coefficients of expansion. The terminals extend through opposed walls of the box and are heated to flex feet of the terminals into firm engagements with the end electrodes whereupon the heat is effective to bond the terminals to the capacitor blank. Encapsulant is deposited in the box to provide a moisture seal while also assisting to hold the terminals in the bonded positions.
