  • Patent number: 4830452
Abstract: An optical routing device comprising a housing block containing a plurality of intersecting holes or other light guides, and at least one control rod which can be selectively introduced into any of said light guides so that a light reflection means, such as a mirror, carried by that rod is brought into a position lying at the intersection of two said light guides, whereby a light beam travelling in one of said intersecting light guides is re-directed into another of said intersecting light guides.

  • Patent number: 4712163
Abstract: The invention relates to indicator lamps and in particular to such lamps which are required to be clearly visible in high ambient light conditions. In order to overcome the problem of light emitted by the lamp competing with the ambient light reflected from the lamp the invention provides an indicator lamp having a light source contained within a light source support in which substantially all of the surfaces of the light source support surrounding the light source are coated black, except for a portion of the surfaces through which emitted light from the light source passes outwardly to the viewer. In a preferred embodiment the light source is an L.E.D.

  • Patent number: 4674815
Abstract: An electrical connector comprising a metal plate (30) containing a plurality of apertures (32). Disposed on each side of the plate (30) is a resilient rubber plug (42,44). Pairs of holes (45) in the plugs (42,44) are aligned with the apertures (32) in the plate (30) for receiving respective filter elements (16) therein. Adjacent each aperture (32) in the plate there is integrally formed with the plate (32) a resilient contact finger (36) which lies adjacent and parallel to the filter element (16). Disposed around the periphery of the metal plate (30) is a plurality of further fingers (38) which lie adjacent and parallel to the inner side wall of a tubular metal housing (34). A pair of rigid plates (46,48) disposed outboard of the rubber plugs (42,44) can be selectively brought together whereby to compress the plugs therebetween. The resulting lateral distortion of the plugs is arranged to have a three-fold effect. Fristly, the filter elements are gripped tightly in the holes in the plugs.

  • Patent number: 4647883
Abstract: A microwave tuning device including a cylindrical metal bush having an internal screw thread. A metal rod-like plunger is axially displaceable within the plastics bush. A plastics bush is fitted over one end of the plunger and fixed thereto by means of splines and grooves. The bush is inserted into the internal screw thread so as to form a corresponding mating screw thread on its outer periphery. A plurality of fingers extend from one end of the metal bush and resiliently engage the outer periphery of a plain portion of the plunger so as to provide resistance to unintentional rotation of the plunger in the metal bush and electrical interconnection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4178622
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a variable electrical device, such as a trimmer capacitor, in which the position of one component of the device is linearly adjustable in relation to a second component of the device by means of an adjusting mechanism comprising a spiral-like groove linked to one of said components, the other component being fixed relative to an axis about which the spiral can be rotated. The spiral groove is carried by a third member which is rotatable about the aforementioned axis. A projection which is fixed relative to the first component is slidably received in the spiral groove whereby rotation of the third member causes the projection to move along the groove and hence the first member to be linearly displaced relative to the second.
